My goodness. I don't know why but I always got the impression that Jerry would keep going forever!

I have just received an alert on my phone that he has passed away

He always reminds me of days off sick from school!
Thoughts with his family

Got me through 3 maternity leaves 😂😂😂

CherryCokeFanatic · 27/04/2023 15:57

I hope was able to give his Final Thought.

Used to love the drama of his show as a child in the late 90s. Maury Povich was good too, is he still about?

Topseyt123 · 27/04/2023 15:59

RIP Jerry. I'm sad to hear that even though I wasn't a regular viewer.

OldTinHat · 27/04/2023 15:59

Goodness! I'll always remember him as the peaceful break in my day as a new mum. DC would breastfeed and fall asleep as I watched his show. Complete break from reality in a weird way when night and day were all merged, Jerry was a constant and a time check.

Eldest DC is 24 now.

RIP Jerry.

Lowest common denominator entertainment and then Jeremy Kyle copying him. 🙄

KitKatLove · 27/04/2023 16:08

It makes me think of tv producers taking advantage of people either too ignorant to understand what they’re doing and the consequences of appearing on the show or too self absorbed to realise how their behaviour affects others and the baying crowd, like a modern day gladiators arena. I’m embarrassed now that I watched it. It was one of many similar shows at the time. RIP Mr Springer.

WhereIsHill · 27/04/2023 16:12

I think his show exploited a lot of people.

And he admitted to using prostitutes.

Not a good man.

memoriesofamiga · 27/04/2023 16:28

His sections in the Austin Powers movies have always made me laugh so much. And his cameo in the Simpsons.

So many memories of watching Jerry Springer when I was growing up. With the benefit of hindsight these shows were exploitative, but they were popular at the time. So RIP, another face from a bygone era gone.

TheApplianceofScience · 27/04/2023 16:31

No subject too indecent, no individual too pathetic,’ was the show’s production motto and it won audiences of millions in the US and UK

RIP Jerry.

Saw Jerry Springer the Opera a few times in London. Whatever anyone thought of him, and whatever his legacy will be, he was never dull.

CreationNat1on · 27/04/2023 16:34

He loved his life, we all need to have more fun. I do anyway.

RIP Springer, you mad loon, you entertained many.

I met Jerry Springer once, when Americas got talent tour was in Las Vegas.
He did a free meet and greet after the show with the contestants and was lovely. Not like on TV at all.

In Jerry Springer, The Musical, the Devil appears at the end and takes JS off to his appointed destination. RIP Jerry, I suspect you'll be in a happier place than that.
