Jury Duty

Highly recommend Jury Duty on Prime. Premise is a documentary/ reality tv show following a court trial from pov of the jury. But everyone is actually an actor (the office vibes) except for one guy Ron on the jury who is not and has no idea everyone else is.
it is genuinely very funny with absolute nonsense happening every day. The court case is also utterly ridiculous and I am still not clear what it’s actually about!
Luckily Ron is an absolute sweetheart and so nice to his fellow jurors even when they are clearly bonkers. I haven’t got to the last episode yet so not sure if he ever finds out the whole thing is fake but he is such a nice character I think he’ll take it well and consider it an amusing anecdote forever.

I’ve watched the first two episodes and agree it’s great.

james marsden is amazing

Love this!

The final 2 episodes are released on Friday, can't wait to see his reaction when it is revealed.

Ronald seems such a sweetheart, and all the actors are brilliant with their improv.

usernother · 02/05/2023 07:42

I agree. Funniest thing I've seen for ages. Ronald is so nice. I wonder if they'll make another one?

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 02/05/2023 22:03

Just binged this in 2 days. Brilliant ending too. Ron is quite possibly the nicest most decent man alive. Definitely recommend!

Umanresources · 14/05/2023 21:23

We are on episode 4, binged it. So funny, we were laughing so much at the “Influencer” and the way one of the jurors wanted to punch her. 😂

covetingthepreciousthings · 16/05/2023 00:19

Just finished this, such a great concept. Agree James Marsden was a great sport and Ronald was just lovely.

I'm not sure how they could do it again unless was a tweaked concept and not jury duty? Would be interesting to see how it went with a not so nice character who didn't play along as well though.

Very funny show though.

TheFireflies · 16/05/2023 00:33

Spotted someone talking about this on another thread, so started watching it this evening. Very glad I did, it’s brilliant!

Umanresources · 16/05/2023 09:42

Finished watching it and it was so funny. Excellent ending. Ronald was the loveliest man. So pleased he's keeping in touch with them.

Crinkle77 · 03/06/2023 18:07

I've watched the first episode and I must have a, sense of humour bypass as I'm not finding it funny. I'm also not entirely convinced that Ronald's not in on it.

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 04/06/2023 14:13

@Crinkle77 it does get better. I genuinely don't think he was in on it and I am very cynical! The ending is definitely worth a watch

2023usernameNew · 04/06/2023 22:33

Finished it tonight.

absolutely loved it.

Jeannie was my favourite character, she was outrageous.

Appalonia · 09/06/2023 08:04

I binge watched it all last night, what a fantastic show! Genuinely funny, reminded me a bit of The Office. And that giant poo!!😂

it was like one of those Derren

Appalonia · 09/06/2023 08:06

Darren Brown shows, where he sets up some elaborate scenario to test someone's character. Lucky Rob was such a lovely guy!

EnjoyingTheSilence · 09/06/2023 08:13

Loved this. He was a genuinely lovely guy. His reaction at the end, not sure I would have been so nice about it

thinkfast · 12/06/2023 23:35

Thanks so much for this thread OP. I watched the entire series this weekend. Never laughed so much. It's a work of pure genius.

Muhwanda · 18/07/2023 14:38

Currently binging this, it’s great! A nice relief from the depressing world.

FMLWTF · 20/07/2023 12:18

Watching this at the moment - I’m enjoying it and it’s very funny but are we totally sure Ronald’s not in on it? At the very least, I think he must have known it wasn’t a real trial and that they were all being filmed for some tv show. I suppose he might not have known the other people were actors as he signed up via an advert on Craigslist. (Which seems an unorthodox way of finding a jury - didn’t that set alarm bells ringing?)

Some of them are so very obviously acting - especially James Marsden - I think I’d have worked out very quickly that it was a set up.

HeyJudeNanananana · 20/07/2023 12:29

The advert was for a tv documentary following jurors of a trial, and it was a civil case if I remember correctly as they couldn't do an actual criminal case because of whatever laws. So as far as Ron was concerned everyone answered the Craigslist ad to be part of a documentary

FMLWTF · 20/07/2023 20:23

I see so that explains why there would be so many “quirky characters”.

But why would a Hollywood actor be looking for such opportunities on Craigslist??

Muhwanda · 21/07/2023 11:25

I thought it was still that they’d been called up to do it? As James Marsden was trying to get out of it wasn’t he? And the virgin guy also didn’t want to do it 🤣

Muhwanda · 21/07/2023 11:26

that doesn’t make sense does it as they also do detail the advert for it 🤔
