I think i heard him say Melanie- which is the name of the other woman who was there- the head of the Monaco tennis federation? - and he mixed her up with Charlene.

I didn’t get to see any tennis yesterday - DS1 ran the Manchester marathon so we went over to support him - don’t know about him but I’m knackered . Seriously though I don’t know how he (or everyone else) managed it - don’t think I could run for a bus!

The match (and the trophy ceremony) sounded entertaining - I think we’ll be seeing a lot more of Rune in the future

The promised heatwave doesn’t seem to have arrived here so I might have to get my sun from watching Barcelona - it’s another good lineup - looks as if Feli is playing tomorrow (shame about no Rafa though )

Fizzy well done to your Ds! We know a couple of people who ran yesterday- weather was a lot kinder than the days before! Like you, I cant run at all. So I really admire anyone with the willpower and stamina to do a marathon.

My mother keeps telling me we are getting a heatwave I still had a hot water bottle last night.

Looking forward to Barcelona- not the same without Rafa, but I think I need to get used to that becoming the norm . Daniil has also withdrawn- but so far looks like Carlos is playing. Hope he's over his injury issues.

The heatwave is still eluding us - we had the heating on last night - I’ve optimistically put some washing out but it’s a bit damp!

I'm going to watch a bit- but dd2 has a haircut at 11 (I put it off all holiday and fortunately she has an inset day today).

I would really rather not go anywhere. I've walked the dog and now it looks like it is going to rain.

It seems sad to see the Rafa Court with him not being there (although I still think they should have waited until he’d retired to name the court after him!)

I’d forgotten about the swimming pool tradition - maybe Rafa wanted to give that a miss this year!

I agree that the court naming (and dodgy statues) are a bit premature. it seems to to add to the pressure not to lose on a court named after you!

Just gt back and i have Etcheverry and Andujar on. Apparently there are a lot of Spanish players in the draw- most of them in the same bit!

Etcheverry has just beaten Andujar- didn't realise it was Pablo's last match. He's been around a while, never one of the 'top' Spanish players but has had a very solid career.

This commentary could send me off to sleep
