Very sad to hear Lance Reddick (Cedric Daniels) has passed away

I never watched The Wire but I showed my dh who loved it and he was very shocked to read this news. 60 is so young (speaking as a 51 year old!) and from natural causes.

I know. A real shock, I was just rewatching the John Wick movies this last week too.

He’s one of those actors who doesn’t necessarily play hugely different characters in the different shows and movies that he appears in, but lends anything he’s in a stability, elegance and grace. He underplays a lot and is really good at nuanced expression in both tone and posture. A proper ‘lots going on under the calm surface’ kind of actor.

He’s especially good in Bosch as a chess-player-minded, cunning political operator police chief. And of course Daniels in The Wire is probably still his standout role.

60 seems very young, especially as he’s always looked so fit on-screen.

I'm a huge fan of the Wire I was only watching it recently- it simultaneously shows its age but doesn't get old.

And Michael K Williams also gone in the last couple of years

The game is rigged but you cannot win if you do not play

I loved him in the wire and in John wick, very sad to read that he's passed away

A huge loss and so sad.

He was amazing in The Wire, a revelation.

Loved him in Bosch too.

RedRiverShore3 · 17/03/2023 21:18

He was also in Fringe and Lost, so young to just pass away, how sad.

EachandEveryone · 17/03/2023 21:22

Ive just heard. Horrible news such a graceful actor and really no age.

CoachBeard · 17/03/2023 22:18

So very sad. He was one of those actors that seemed to be in so many different things. I loved him in Fringe and Bosch, my husband loved him in The Wire, the kids loved him in various computer games they played and we were all looking forward to seeing him in the new Percy Jackson adaptation.
He seems to have been a genuinely nice man too.

Noooo.

The Wire is the greatest TV show of all time IMHO. Bosch also very good.
