I've just watched The Marvelous Mrs Maisel on Prime and really enjoyed it. It was a surprise hit after desperately looking for something to watch after Happy Valley ended.
Can anyone recommend my next binge please?
I don't usually enjoy anything on itv or channel 4, much prefer a gritty series with good, pay attention type dialogue.

No reality or celebrity shows thanks.

Better
The Gold
Whisting

All on BBC Iplayer

Bosch on Prime if you haven't seen that

Almahart · 28/02/2023 17:10

The Gold is good

Theyresexpeoplemn · 28/02/2023 17:20

I tried The Gold when it first broadcast and couldn't really get in to it. Might have to try again.
Thanks for these.
Will try Bosch. I hadn't even seen that come up in recommended.

Thanks

I really enjoyed The Capture (and while I was checking it was still on iPlayer I noticed that Borgen is there - fantasy politics but none the less enjoyable).

Theyresexpeoplemn · 28/02/2023 17:45

Thanks. I'll give The Capture a try, too.
I'd thought about Better, but the reviews put me off! Will have to decide for myself, but saw this;

I wanted it to be good, but it wasn’t. Put it this way: if Line of Duty and Happy Valley are masterpieces in oil, Better is dot-to-dot with crayons.

The Mentalist is on Prime if you haven't seen that.

The Outlaws on iPlayer is fabulous, so funny. Stephen Merchant written.

Theyresexpeoplemn · 28/02/2023 18:13

No, i haven't seen this. The Mentalist has got a good score on Rotten Tomatoes too. A good sign!

Have you watched This Is Us on Prime?

Theyresexpeoplemn · 28/02/2023 18:14

Ah, I didn't like The Outlaws. I've watched a few Ricky Gervais things though.

sparklecrazy · 28/02/2023 18:16

Ooo what was that other series with Ricky Gervais? Was it Extras? Have you watched that?

I tried it as it was recommended before on another thread, but just too much American mushy sentimentality for me. Thanks for posting though. 😀

I am late to watching it, but yes just watched Extras and really enjoyed it. Afterlife was good, too.

All on Prime, i dont have a TV Licence. I liked Bosch. I'm rewatching Person of Interest and I like older 00s shows I missed like such as Leverage, the Closer and Numbers.

Theyresexpeoplemn · 28/02/2023 18:28

Thanks everyone. At least now I have lots to search for. The recommended programs that come up on the player just don't know me at all!

Ha - yes that is probably a fair comparison, and the actual storyline feels quite flimsy!!

Just seen that The Night Manager is on Prime. That was good - great cast too.

notprincehamlet · 28/02/2023 22:44

The Bureau on Prime - just brilliant

Almahart · 01/03/2023 08:22

Oh yes the Night Manager is a good watch
