@CoconutAmericano oh my goodness yes!

‘The Mill’ on Amazon Prime.

Absolutely brilliant - there are 2 seasons and with some famous British actors.
Really moving and I’m pretty sure suitable for 14 yrs.

Verbena17 · 25/02/2023 20:05

Oh and North & South with Richard Armitage.

CoconutAmericano · 25/02/2023 20:07

Oh wow @Verbena17 thank you so much! I wasn't sure i’d get any replies for such a specific request! Lol Much appreciated!

My DC loved Hetty Feather on BBC, although she might be a little old for it.

What about some of the Catherine Cookson adaptations, I loved them. They might be very dated though

Twizbe · 25/02/2023 20:10

Wives and daughters and north and south

CoconutAmericano · 25/02/2023 20:22

Ill look into all the recommendations thank you @MillicentTrilbyHiggins @Twizbe 😊

Oh was going to say Wives and Daughters. Love it :)

Maybe the Cranford series? Judi Dench. Not sure how realistic - a little bit saccharine.

Great Expectations - BBC adaptation with Gillian Anderson.

Toddlerteaplease · 25/02/2023 20:23

Cranford.

Tree543 · 25/02/2023 20:26

Enola Holmes

LetThemEatTurnips · 25/02/2023 20:31

Cranford
North & South
Lark Rise to Candleford
Anything by Dickens

Victorian Farm, Victorian Pharmacy, Victorian Christmas all good on the 'light documentary' side

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 25/02/2023 20:31

Victoria is a good series.

CoconutAmericano · 25/02/2023 20:32

Well she’s very excited about Enola Holmes now because she’s familiar with Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things so we’re going to watch it tomorrow! Honestly appreciate all the recommendations!

Around the World in 80 Days was great and suitable for this age.
While I'm here, what age would Hetty Feather be OK for? DD is 8.

bellswithwhistles · 25/02/2023 21:00

The Mill is amazing. The only downside is it stopped suddenly and never got bloody concluded!!!

OldMrsTiggyWinkle · 25/02/2023 21:08

I really enjoyed the Paradise about a department store, set in Victorian England. It's available on Amazon Prime.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 25/02/2023 21:34

The ruby in the smoke

CrabDuckDuckCrab · 25/02/2023 21:43

The 1900 House is on YouTube - I LOVED it when it was on in about 1999. The bits about the women washing their hair and dealing with their periods are so interesting!

Wavingnotdrown1ng · 25/02/2023 22:25

The second Enola Holmes has the Matchstick Girls’ strike as part of the plot and she could research this herself and find out about ‘phossy jaw’ and the intrepid female union organiser who led the strike.

Toddlerteaplease · 25/02/2023 22:27

@CrabDuckDuckCrab I remember that. They bought some shampoo on BOGOF, then felt really bad and got rid of it. I also remember them taking obituary the temperature in the house. It was about 1 degree at one point.
