ITVX Is it actually free and can you download?

So lots of things seem to now only be able to be available on ITVX, but I can't download stuff? Is it free or a premium service?

I watch it through my fire stick and it seems to be free.

It’s a mixture. Some things are only available on premium. There is a 7 day free trial for premium stuff.

It is the app of the devil, bloody hopeless on some TVs, only streams live on Samsung tvs and some devices. @RaininSummer does the firestick let you stream live TV?

But op, it is free but has adverts

It’s partially free but some stuff is premium only and the free bit has ads where the premium doesn’t , the premium bit has basically taken over Britbox

AS far as I know ITV have moved all their catch up offers on line which is a real pain as before I got catchup via Virgin Media and it was ad free. Now I have to use the ITVx app and it makes programmes really boring as every other moment there is an ad break which goes on for hours.

I can stream live TV on some channels but I don't think itv is one of them. Will check later for you.

Thanks all - I can watch but I don't seem to be able to download anything to watch on the train (unless I pay for premium). I don't mind the ads Smile but I don't want to pay for another 'premium' service!

You have to pay to download. I did this too early and the series had gone when I got on the plane

I only have ITVx as an app once I got a new box from VM otherwise I wouldn't have it. I think some providers were taken a bit by surprise when they made the switch.

And I do feel that ITVx is putting more ads in programmes in the hope that it is so irritating people will then pay the subscription fee to avoid them.

It just made me record any ITV programmes I want to watch, so that I can then fast forward thought the ads.

Its not just that so many ads are irritating, but that I lose concentration and find it hard to get back into the storyline.

I thought I would not wait to watch Unforgotten at tv pace, but the 2 I watched via ITVx the ads just destroyed the feeling of being involved.

It is an awful app. The worst feature is that it can play a series out of sequence. Put me right off considering paying for it. Content is quite good tho. So far I’ve enjoyed, Nolly, The twelve, Unforgotten, The spy amongst friends, The Bay and you and me, plus other bit.

Yes, the out of sequence is annoying, I started watching a series and hadn't realised it was the last episode, I wondered what the hell was going on, they had put the last episode as the one to watch first.

I don't know why they don't just show all the series on ITV as it is free anyway.

Horrible app. Gave in today and paid for sub which has improved it slightly and allowed me to use subtitles. I doubt I'll subscribe for long. Am not impressed.

It's really pissing me off, I do know that !! I watch TV via a firestick on all TVs. It opens the app, forces me to watch adverts then tells me it can't load and to retry - but retry doesn't ever work ! This is on the tv in my office where I watch most tv. How am I ever going to watch Grace !! 😂😂 grrrrrrrrr

Bloody awful on my Firestick. It's just functional enough to watch one or two programmes without crashing, then it goes haywire again the next time you try to watch something. . Worse than the ITV hub.
It's not only fine on my laptop, but it lets me watch programmes ad-free. I hadn't signed up for it. I'd never pay for anything that crap.
