Britain’s Next Top Model - all series being re run on itv hub

Just seen that the ITV hub are re-running all the old series of Britain’s Next Top Model so decided to watch series one and my gosh it’s made feel really uncomfortable. I’m shocked at what we used to think was acceptable treatment of young girls on a tv show, back in the mid 2000s. Has anyone else watched it? Am i overreacting or is it really bad??

The Australian series was excellent, in some ways I like it more than ANTM. Cycle 4 and Demelza remains a very hard watch!

I did manage to get Hulu (using VPN software and a gift card, and some non- Google app store was a huge pain in the bum to get it set up) for a while last year and it had AusNTM up to series 8 although it was removed. I also watched all of the early ANTMs that we can't get over here as Amazon has from cycle 7. I've bought them all on Amazon 😳an investment as I rewatch them constantly.

If anyone is a big ANTM fan I highly recommend the Pod Ledom podcast.

I remember Demelza! A name you can never forget really. I can't remember if she was good or bad!

I want to watch ANTM again too! Season 5 (and maybe one other) randomly appeared on Prime for a while, but then vanished again

I've had a good binge on this and about to start series 7.
In series 6 the audience chose the winner so it definitely started to change. The girls( women) are so desperate to win but I'm sure the model agency would take on any of them if they wanted.
Such a good watch.

I've just started 7 but skipped the tedious audition episodes (three?! And then the semi!!) X Factor was obviously big at the time.

5,6 and 7 are the true classics in my eyes, although I did also enjoy the ones with Hilary Alexander on the panel.

I've just rewatched series one, and I was shocked! They were really objectified.The episode where the "prize" was Paul Denan and another bloke from Corrie basically forcing themselves on them was awful to watch. And throughout the series, a theme of being rewarded with time with men....congratulatuons on winning... here, go on a date with random male models or have Mohamed Al-fyed drool all over you. Constant references to being too fat, too broad, looking like a drag queen, etc. All the smoking and binge drinking.

@Bumblebeebum23
That was horrible the early episodes where they're given the reward of going out with those sleazy actors. It just would not happen now! There would be outrage.

I haven't watched for a while but I'm up to the series where Elle is still the main judge and Danni Minogue is also a judge.

Has someone had all of their hair cut off yet? That happened in every season and then they would cry. Definitely need to watch again, it sounds like it hasn't aged well!

I'm just rewatching season 2 of BNTM which was the Abbey Clancy series. Poor girl. I felt so sorry for her. The other girls were absolutely vile to her particularly Jaz and Lianna. I'm so glad she got the last laugh on them!

I agree. I thought Abbey came across as a genuinely lovely girl. Some of the others were awful to her. Lianna who? I bet more people recognise Abbey than Lianna these days
