I can’t see a thread about this so I’m starting one. Hope that’s ok!

I found it on iPlayer and I’ve binged series 1 just starting series 2 today while I have a day off to sort my own life out! It’s such a great series, a lovely team and Stacey’s personality just makes me smile.

What I wonder though I’d do they get permission from the families to cut up and alter their furniture? Also if it’s a rented house I get a bit worried when they’re creating bespoke storage for that house, what happens when they have to move?

But I love it! My new mantra is: Do you love it? Do you need it? I filled the living room floor with DDs teddies at the weekend and tried to get them to pick their favourites. They were not impressed. My eldest went and asked DH if he could delete that programme mummy keeps watching on the iPad.

Any other fans out there?

I loved series one and I have been watching series two but beginning to wonder if I will get bored of it soon.....

I love it. I really don’t like when they buy in new ornaments etc to stage the room though. If I got rid of 50% of my stuff to declutter my home I wouldn’t want some of that stuff replaced with generic tat to match my decor. I’d rather keep the mismatched and accumulated nick nacks that actually mean something to me.

grafittiartist · 02/02/2023 07:57

Love this program.
What was the channel 5 version called please? I thought I'd re watch those too- with Nick Knowles.

ShillyShallySherbet · 02/02/2023 08:20

Thanks to the link to the other thread @louise5754 I can’t believe I didn’t find that, sorry to start another one.

@grafittiartist big house clear out, I found that out on the other thread and must check that out too.

I didn’t realise they did that @Orcubed that does seem completely pointless and I’d be annoyed too.

I noticed a few times in series one they have a decorative selection of books always containing one by Fearne Cotton, I thought wow that must be a good book that people always decide to keep it! Then I twigged that it’s probably been put there on purpose in a product placement kind of way so people would think that and buy it! I’m so gullible!

Thank you!!

Orcubed · 02/02/2023 14:04

@ShillyShallySherbet to be fair they are usually very good at finding solutions and storage for the stuff that’s important to the family but there’s been a few times I’ve noticed them bringing in new unnecessary stuff and it’s annoyed me. Overall though I really like their approach and how they try so hard to make it fit each family rather than just going in with a predetermined design idea and making all the houses basically the same.

LindorDoubleChoc · 02/02/2023 14:15

I much prefer the original UK version with Nick Knowles.

louise5754 · 02/02/2023 21:26

@ShillyShallySherbet The Nick Knowles one was on earlier at 8pm

I think Nick Knowles one is the copy

Stacey's has been on a while but this is Nicks first series this year

No. You're completely wrong.

link to press story about this from 18 months ago.

Definitely not wrong, Staceys one was first.

It was a one off, broadcast in April 2021, then it was made into a series in the November. I knew that because in the very first episode of s1 they were talking about the team being ‘reunited’ or something, and I tried to find prior episodes and was really confused. But you can’t get the pilot on BBC for some reason.

Nick Knowles one wasn’t on until August 2021, so about 4 months after the BBC pilot.

Either way, I like both, and didn’t realise s2 was out, so I’m going to get on the iPlayer now 😊

The carpenter is my fave, he does clever stuff, like the secret cupboards in the bath panel.

Whether Stacey was first or not I wonder why they showed them on tv at the same time?

Maybe because people she clutter after Christmas?

CharlotteStreetW1 · 27/02/2023 09:47

You can - it's called "Special".

I love it and have tried some of the cleaning tips. Stacey has so much empathy and I've been pleasantly surprised by her.

There was a rental property in one episode which was mentioned several times as they couldn't do anything permanent but came up with some good solutions.

Ah, so there is!
I have just watched it, thank you!

Not sure when that was added, as deffo wasn’t there when I watched s1.

I really like SS. I agree, she is very empathetic and just seems like an all round good egg/nice person

Brumbies · 25/02/2024 19:32

Really? Are there people that live like this?

user120405 · 25/02/2024 19:34

They’re actually both a rip off of a Canadian programme that used to be on Netflix (not sure whether it’s still on there)

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 25/02/2024 19:37

I did shed a tear at this weeks - especially when Stacey was talking to Dilly.

Brumbies · 25/02/2024 19:40

I don't believe they can empty a house in 12 hours

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 25/02/2024 19:52

@Brumbies I assume there is a huge team off camera who do most of the work.

HalleLouja · 25/02/2024 21:07

They definitely seemed to show more of the additional helpers this time.

I do love them all apart from Iwan and Rob is my favourite with his pull out tables and all sorts he comes up with.

PoppingTomorrow · 25/02/2024 21:09

I LOVE it.

Never noticed them buying new nick nacks. Sometimes crafting new stuff on the cheap. And I guess buying eg storage jars (the one thing I think is mental is Dilly arranging biscuits in a pattern in a jar, requiring her to touch every biscuit!).

I missed whether there was something about the family situation that week that was particularly poignant for Dilly?
