Well I’m currently watching my way through this - on the recommendation of the folks on the Happy Valley threads!

Observations thus far…

None of them can keep their mouths shut about other people’s secrets. Literally in their next breath, they’re spilling their guts before you can say “Mum’s the word”.

They don’t half like getting married! Every other episode there seems to be a proposal or another wedding 😂

That Celia really does like to make everything about her doesn’t she!

Also, is Gillian’s farmhouse the same one in HV, where Alison Garrs lived?

I have literally just opened up iplayer to watch this, on the back of how good HV is!
Will check back in an episode( or three) depending how good it is 😃

nurseynursery · 27/01/2023 21:17

I bloody love last tango. Totally different vibe to HV but so comforting. I've watched it through twice now. The relationship between Caroline and Gillian is wonderful. Both actresses are wonderful too imo.

MadisonAvenue · 27/01/2023 21:22

Love Last Tango, I’ve started rewatching it (for the third time) on iPlayer. I love the scenes between Caroline and Gillian.

I’ve never watched Happy Valley, I’m not really into crime dramas but I probably should give it a go because Sarah Lancashire is wonderful.

EspeciallyDetermined · 27/01/2023 21:22

I've never seen HV but Last Tango is brilliant.

Ofbollocks · 27/01/2023 22:27

Aw. It's nice. Ep 1 watched. I'll definitely watch some more. I'm not sure on the wonderful Sarah Lancashire with the posh accent, though.

purpleme12 · 27/01/2023 23:05

Another one who hasn't watched Happy Valley but I really loved Last Tango in Halifax.
Last series wasn't as good as the others I don't think but still good

RampantIvy · 27/01/2023 23:06

I must watch this

Janieread · 27/01/2023 23:09

I really enjoyed the first two or three episodes, but got sick of it fairly fast. All the characters are so unlikeable.

SuperFi · 27/01/2023 23:59

I too have started watching it because of Happy Valley, loving it so far I’m at episode ode 4 of the 1st series.

i thought it would be a staid sit com about love in the golden years ( like As Time Goes By) but there is so much more to it.

AntonDuPig · 04/02/2023 16:09

I've made it to the last series!
Posh 'Catherine' (Caroline) took some getting used to after Happy Valley 😁
I will pause now as I want to get back in HV land and try and give series 3 of that another viewing before tomorrow night - eeeeek!

Isn't that SL actual voice / accent in LTIH? Much prefer her accent in HP.

Wallabyone · 03/03/2023 10:19

I watched the whole series very quickly;
I finished it yesterday!
I really enjoyed it, and hope she managed to write another.
I found Sarah Lancashire's accent much more formal in the last series-it just sounded a bit much! I love her though.

WhisperGold · 15/03/2023 22:23

I've got a theory that TLR was Harrison's dad. Looked very similar and TLR had Harrison's Artful Dodger charm (when he wasn't being a total psycho).

Brumbies · 26/10/2023 17:37

Just started this, having never watched it before. First observation, head teachers of independent schools usually live in at the school.
I'm sad aren't I?

Brumbies · 26/10/2023 17:42

Love all the actors especially Sarah.

As a latecomer to the series I have been binge watching it. did anyone notice the reference to Sergeant Cawood in the episode in the final series when the sheep got let out?
