Anyone watching?

Halfway through Ep 1 - it is remorselessly depressing so far. But kind of brilliant.

Oh is this a second series?

TottersBlankly · 22/12/2022 15:56

Yes!

It’s on Now TV.

Ohhhhh I didn’t even know this was in the offing!!

thsts my next binge sorted. I shall revert in due course 😁

Lottapianos · 22/12/2022 16:07

Dying to watch this. Adored the first series, although it was a tough watch

Relocatiorelocation · 22/12/2022 16:10

Was Series 1 on Now TV? I don't have Now but was desperate to binge.

TottersBlankly · 22/12/2022 16:11

Both seasons seem to be on Now … now.

I'm going in for episode 2 later. It's amazing - brave and clever writing.

TottersBlankly · 22/12/2022 19:05

Well … I’m always anxious, when people use terms like ‘brave’ and ‘clever’ about 21st c screenwriting by women, to hear them acknowledge that none of those shows can hold a candle to I May Destroy You

I watched episode 1 of season 2 last night. Loved it. There's quite a graphic scene near the start (no spoilers) and I've never seen anything like it on TV before. The whole thing is very funny, very sad, full of rage and brilliantly performed all round

Lottapianos · 23/12/2022 08:12

Totters, absolutely with you on I May Destroy You - a really stunning piece of TV that deserved to have been celebrated WAY more than it was

TottersBlankly · 23/12/2022 09:29

👍🏽

Agree about I May Destroy You.

I watched first episode of Suzie 2. It was brilliantly bleak. Piper is fabulous, so talented. Her ex husband in real life (Fox) seems to be unable to handle her success. He tweeted this when Piper was trending Twitter, the odious twerp. It is so clearly aimed at the opening scene.

Oh god, Laurence Fox is such a plum. I'm sure Billie wonders why the hell she ever went near him. Theres a lot in both series about ridiculous and unfair expectations of women, and a lot in series 2 about divorce and custody. I hope it was cathartic for her in some way

I finished series 2 today. It's yet another tour de force performance from her. She's a seriously talented woman

Wanderingoff · 24/12/2022 21:19

Oh I’ve just finished it. Gripping.

i was much more sympathetic to her ex husband and less sympathetic to her this time - until the end when I became very sympathetic

played with my emotions for sure

inhope there’s a next series!!!

Readaboutyourself · 24/12/2022 21:21

Can someone ‘unwillingly’ commit rape? He’s such a loser. Poor woman has kids with him too.

applecharlotte12 · 28/12/2022 13:07

Loving this programme - Billie Piper is incredible! Can I ask, is there only 3 episodes in season 2? I'm looking on Sky Atlantic and can't see anymore after ep 3!

TottersBlankly · 28/12/2022 13:11

Yes, just 3 episodes.

More than enough - it’s such a gruelling watch!

OP posts:
foxlover47 · 28/12/2022 13:16

Finished it last night think it was just a short 3 episodes but didn't it pick so much in !!
Billie is incredible in her role

foxlover47 · 28/12/2022 13:17

leccybill · 02/01/2023 01:15

Billie Piper is beyond incredible in this.

TottersBlankly · 02/01/2023 10:19

Her performance is excellent, yes. But it’s the material that makes the show explosive. So her role as co-creator seems even more important. I’d expect the script and context to bring out the very best in any actress.

Too true actually.

The writing, styling, originality - just everything. It's a work of art!

DannydeVitooo · 02/01/2023 20:48

So is Cob Fox? And lovely Douglas Hodge Chris Evans?

TottersBlankly · 03/01/2023 07:28

I think that’s how some of the reviews are contextualising the script.

There are lots of reviews! Just google.

DannydeVitooo · 03/01/2023 18:19

Yes I did. Just seemed to go on about how unflinching it was Etc.
