Has anyone watched?

Judith Kilshaw and her husband Alan (from the UK) who tried to buy two babies from America.

I never saw this news story before and I've started the first episode. I'm aghast someone tried to buy babies on the internet!

What channel is it on?

FavouritePi · 13/12/2022 00:34

Sorry, I should have probably said it's on Amazon Prime Video!

I haven’t seen it but there is a page on Facebook for people who regret having children to get support and vent and in the comments of some posts there have been people offering to ‘adopt’ their children and I was very shocked when I first saw it!

This was at a time when it was legal in the US to sell a baby online apparently.

I like to believe there's good intention for people commenting that they'd adopt but I also wonder what kind of person trawls those pages to suggest adopting other's children. It makes me sick to think what they could be passed off to.

I remember this from the time. The whole thing was a media circus and very odd. I think they played on the strangeness of the couple, whilst brining up lots of current issues.

It will always remain a fascinating story, because they are still relevant today. (And it makes great telle!)

So do I. Bizarrely, I still remember a silly song they did about them on (iirc) The Big Breakfast - 'Meet The Kilshaws' (to the tune of 'Meet The Flintstones') and it still regularly pops into my head from time to time. I won't say the lyrics, as they aren't very complimentary and Alan is no longer alive.

I remember the names of the girls (at one stage) as being (aurally) pretty much the same name - and thinking that would have been a big enough tabloid shame-story in itself, but for all the much bigger circumstances overshadowing it.

I always find it odd when people particularly seek out a girl/boy specifically when going into adoption. Maybe it's because I'd be happy with whatever if I couldn't have any/anymore children.

The other element is these children are either mixed race or black and it seems like it was a little bit of a novelty.

I can't quite make her out from her interview.

Yes @WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll, they were Kiara and Keyara (I think it was spelt).
