Previous thread here

I don't have to do the no spoiler warning, because it's the Final and it's ALL LIVE!

Quick reminder for no YouTube videos please, they embed and slow the thread down horribly for some people. I'll add a link to the multimedia thread in a minute.

I imagine the prodance was winter based. Craig is a professional dancer and choreographer I think he just faffs about coming down the stairs.

Apparently he was the Ice Queen panto style and there were children dressed as snowflakes.

I'm shocked Helen being a qualified tap dance teacher has been kept quiet? I've done tap back in the day and that would definitely give her an advantage.

And Fleur did what looked like for all the world a ‘stage’ show for her cc - something she has done/does for a living. And got 40 for it.

Molly is Sylvia young to the bones of her.

only Hamza doesn’t seem to have any dance experience. Although I’m half expecting someone to say he won a gold in the sword dance at the Ardnamurchan games against Morven from the Auld Smiddy and Vhairi from the top o’ the hill. 😏

Oh I see, maybe they will keep it and show it on the Christmas episode.

HA! Vhari from top o hill 😂

IReallyLikeCrows · 13/12/2022 20:27

I liked Hamza's cc but I stand by my "no ccs in the final!" hill to die on. I'm glad that his show dance sounds like it's going to be very ballroom but no to ccs.

Fleur's cc was amazing but it was very Janet Jackson video and a bit too much. Both she and Helen had extra dancers in the ccs and I'm really not sure how they're going to repeat the atmosphere when it's just them and their partners. Of the three the fact that Helen's was only last bloody week really is taking the piss.

IReallyLikeCrows · 13/12/2022 20:28

I'm also glad that Hamza is doing the salsa again. That was epic.

Hamza's salsa was truely epic, will bring the house down again . All the past dance choices seem good. Lets see what the show dances bring

IReallyLikeCrows · 13/12/2022 20:51

I have to say that I don't remember Helen's jive at all. It's not surprising because we've had a few great jives in the past and I tend not to remember ones that don't match up. In fact, I don't recall the jives of any of the finalists. Or Will's.

EsmaCannonball · 13/12/2022 21:07

I'm glad Harry Judd reminded everyone on ITT that in his day the celebs in the final had to do one latin, one ballroom, a showdance and the one remaining dance style each had left to do. It was so much better then and, despite the increased rigour, the level of dancing remained high. Harry, Chelsee and Jason was one of my favourite finals. I am so not looking forward to three Couple's Choices in the final, but I expect this is how things are going to go in the future, with Couple's Choice tending to be a high-scoring easy option. The show has lost its USP, and, as someone who particularly likes the ballroom dances, I'm really disliking the downgrading of ballroom.

Snap Esma

IReallyLikeCrows · 13/12/2022 21:53

@EsmaCannonball I love both but ballroom has a special place in my heart. Seeing a well done foxtrot, one of my favourite dances, done well is a thing of beauty.

Someone mentioned the American Smooth. I'm always really disappointed when it's a slower more moody one. I like them to be upbeat, old-school, glam, and putting on the Ritz type pzazz. More of that sort of thing, please!

I think the show needs to sort itself out a little. More focus on the dances, less family tragedy, fewer nanas, children, going back to school, bollocks, nonsense and enough already. I still love the show but it's got a little bit out of control.

FeedMeSantiago · 13/12/2022 23:10

I remember Fleur's jive - it was to Waterloo by ABBA for BBC week and Vito's outfit was spectacularly dreadful. Grateful we don't have to see it again!

EsmaCannonball · 13/12/2022 23:37

All the chat about Molly and Fleur on ITT was basically 'well, they might as well have fun and enjoy themselves (because they're not going to win).' Even Fleur and Vito seemed to be saying this, without explicitly saying it out loud.

There's something wrong with the format if even the show that's meant to be generating buzz for the final is all but saying two of the finalists might as well not turn up. Where's the excitement?

XanaduKira · 14/12/2022 00:54

To be fair though @EsmaCannonball, they've both been in the dance off multiple times, so it's not unusual to imagine they've no chance of winning.

I'm not a massive Will fan, but do think the judges should have put him through to the final given how many times Fleur had been in the dance off already. I know they're not meant to look at anything other than the dance off dance, but I do think they should take all dances & popularity into consideration when choosing who to save!

(I also think they should have saved Kim over Molly as she should have left a long time ago!)

MavisMcMinty · 14/12/2022 01:02

Harry, Chelsee and Jason was one of my favourite finals.

I can’t remember Jason at all, and IIRC that was the season my sister bought me tickets for the Strictly tour!

MavisMcMinty · 14/12/2022 01:04

Gah, should have googled before posting, it was Jason Donovan and I can’t believe I’d forgotten all about him.

XanaduKira · 14/12/2022 01:08

I watched that series and have no recollection of Jason Donovan at all (& I'm a big fan Confused)

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 14/12/2022 01:17

Oh I do. I wanted to like him, but he waffled on for hours. And not in a fun way.

Glad it’s not just me!

Robbie Savage won the night I went to the Strictly tour. I thought it must be because it was in Cardiff but apparently he usually won wherever it was held. He’d certainly improved since his time on the show.

xsquared · 14/12/2022 08:14

Do people generally think that a contestant who has a chance of winning a popularity contest should be in the final, over someone who is more likely to deliver a good performance?

I didn't get the impression that the panel were suggesting Molly or Fleur shouldn't be in the final at all. I think it was Harry who suggested thay they didn't have expectations of winning or something along those lines. They have worked hard and fought for their place, so now that they are free from the threat of the dance off, they can relax and enjoy the final. So they should.

I agree Crows especially your last paragraph it’s getting too much 🙄

Spot on!

It has moved so far away from what it once was that it isn't even the same show anymore.

CuriousMama · 14/12/2022 10:37

MIL won't watch it because of all the changes. She loves dancing too.

Maybe the producers should get some of you lot involved? There's some wise people posting on here.

Harry won the vast majority of shows on that tour, but Robbie won the second most with 6, which is very creditable given that he was up against Harry, Chelsee and Jason.

Jason did a few great dances (worlds campest Tango to I Will Survive, everything but the kitchen sink Showdance, murderous Argentine Tango) but yes he was very dull.
