Strictly final dance, awkward or just me!?

I find the final dances after the dance off extremely cringe and I struggle to watch every time.. is it just me?

Yep, cringe!

I am guilty of never watching the results show but have seen some and know what you mean, I feel the same about first dances at weddings-can't watch.

I rather like them. I'm enjoying this season as it's the first one since Covid where everyone is allowed to pile on at the end

The final dances are really just for the contestants I think. It's not good telly, but Strictly must be a very emotional experience and they enjoy that last moment together.

I get that it's for the contestants, but it's almost done like a first wedding dance as PP eludes to. Yet they're not in love (as far as we know) and haven't just got married!

It just feels inappropriate to cuddle each other and act like they do, when most of the time they are not single!

But they have just spent how ever many weeks / months training alongside their partner up close for hours on end nearly every day, so I think they will be close after that experience to be honest. It's not like they're strangers hugging.

The reason it usually looks like the standard “rotating hug” wedding dance is because the Celebs aren’t actually learning to “dance” - they’re learning a fixed routine for each dance.

If you put most of them on a dance floor with a Pro and told them to just follow their lead they wouldn’t have a clue what to do! So when it comes to “freestyle” they default to just swaying on the spot.

Some of them do recreate a few moves or a lift or something from one of their routines. This week you could hear Graz and Kym discussing it, and then he lifted her and spun her round, which was clearly arranged and agreed
