US vs U.K. TV versions

So the other day I noticed on BBC iPlayer there’s the US version of Ghosts, the comedy tv show and it was not so great as you had the us equivalent of existing characters like I really liked the naivety of Kitty, the wannabe William Shakespeare and the shamed MP.

I started wondering which other shows are like this other than The Office, Shameless, Camping (hope that’s the name but it’s about camping) and whether you prefer the U.K. or US version of the shows.

I think they famously made a very bad Us version of dads army that completely lost the charm and subtlety of the UK show.

And then there's life on Mars which ended literally going to mars. Bloody awful!

I'm watching the US Ghosts and trying to restrict myself to one episode a day as I love it so much. I watched every single episode of the UK original (mostly because I like Katy Wix) and don't think I laughed once, but the US one is hilarious, I like all the characters so much better.

They did a uk version this year and it was dire. The US version is much more slick.

I came on to say exactly this!! I secretly love the US version but the U.K. one was utterly terrible! Terrible filming and terrible casting. It was just depressing to watch

Keeping up with the Kardashians. It’s The Crown in the UK. Preferred the US version, it was slightly more believable.

Need I mention what happened when the US tried to make a version of Red Dwarf? 😂

I found the First episode of US ghosts quite painful as they lifted the plot/script completely, and squeezed it into 20 minutes instead of 30....
As there is more US episodes than UK, I have a feeling it will improve as the plots diverge.

I suppose it’s because they had all the characters copied and it would’ve been ok to have their own set of characters/ ghost even if this time it was the man to see the ghosts not the woman 😂

wasn’t there a version of skins that failed. And being human? And red dwarf
british comedy is so different to US I don’t know why they bother
