New series on Netflix. Madly funny and sad - Christina Applegate is just fabulous!

Just finished watching this. Loved it mainly for the quality of the two central performances, and nice to see such a female-centred show.

The plot has always been pretty far-fetched but I did feel that the ending of S3 was verging on silly. Why did 'the Greeks', after ignoring Judy for months while she was living at Jen's, suddenly decide to pursue her for her ex's money while she was en route to Mexico? And why did they give up after the encounter in the lay-by, even though they must have known exactly where she was headed? Pretty clear that they were only re-introduced to get Jen off the hook for Steve's death. Are we really supposed to believe that all the evidence for the FBI investigation was in the dead agent's head?

I don't think Jen was especially happy about the pregnancy. There was a comment where Judy asked her how far along she was and she said "just, too far", which I assume meant she was just beyond the point where abortion would have been an option. IMO the more unrealistic part was how happy the father of the baby was.

I think that the ending was supposed to be ambiguous in terms of what happened to Judy, but realistically cancer isn't a disease when you can just die quietly on your own without any medical support, so it didn't really make sense when she said she was going to stay in Mexico.

We never actually saw Judy die, or a body though did we? I think it's left to the viewers to make up their minds as to what happened exactly. I did wonder a few times in season 3 if Judy was maybe pulling a long con by somehow faking her cancer then her death. It would have got the authorities and the Greeks off her back, and she could disappear with the rest of the money.

Her mother definitely thought that was a possibility. It's my theory anyway.

Interesting theory, but she definitely went through chemo, so that would be a really committed long con!

Judy definitely had cancer as she went through chemo but maybe after the final scan the news was not bad as we only had her to say it was terminal. So she could have faked it I suppose and just disappeared.
I didn't like Judy all that much.

The cops were just terrible.

Very sad for Christina Applegate. So many scenes were filmed with her sitting down. I'd say she struggled to complete the season.

I am watching it now, and suddenly clicked that Christina Applegate was on Married With Children as the child of Peggy Bundy... played by Katey Segal!
