I love this programme. The bond Matt has with his parents is amazing. He and his mum and dad seem so lovely, they are so passionate about what they do and all have a great sense of humour. (Although I'm not so keen on the crafty / baking bits his wife and daughter do although I couldn't do any of it).

Anyway. They seem to do 3/4/5 new projects every episode. This may sound thick but do the producers / tv show pay for all of this? If so how lucky are they to be approached by channel 4 and be able to renovate the farm, make it safe for his parents, but new animals, the car, caravan, woodland hut etc.

I'm not knocking them, it's an amazing opportunity if everything is paid for and anyone would jump at the chance plus I find the while series interesting and entertaining.

I was just curious x

I would imagine he approached them with the idea of the series and he is paid for it. This money would then go towards the cost of the projects.

It's his own production company. He'll be getting a set fee for delivering the programme - how much will be down to his negotiating skills, more 4 doesn't have a large budget!. Some of the projects I suspect are engineered for tv but most of the content is running the farm so no additional cost.

And remember it's filmed over a year, farms take a lot of work to run!
