Is anyone watching? Thoughts?
I'm on episode 8 and keep asking myself "what the fuck did I just watch"? I've had to skip some episodes as they were just too boring and overall it's been more of a miss than a hit.
I so wanted to love it but I just don't!

Watched the first episode. Thought it was ok. Started watching something else. Might go back to it at some point, might not. But definitely didn't live up to my expectations.

SoundMachine · 29/10/2022 17:14

Ooo no I've watched 4 so far and loved them all.

monicagellerbing · 29/10/2022 17:19

I've watched the first one and was bored. It's put me off watching the rest...

blebbleb · 29/10/2022 17:19

I'm on number 4. Really enjoying it! Netflix has been great for horror lately.

SoundMachine · 29/10/2022 17:21

I'm only watching 1 a night, I find them a bit too tense to watch more than that in one go.

Really loved the grave robber one, and the autopsy, liked the Alo Glo one too. Really original ideas, proper creepy, and stunning to look at. Love the tales of the unexpected style intros.

Much better than some of clichéd horror stuff netflix puts out.

Chikapu · 29/10/2022 17:25

I feel like they start out really well but the endings never quite deliver.

Supersimkin2 · 29/10/2022 19:45

The Alo Glo blew me away. Agree about the endings tho - laaaame.

Saucery · 29/10/2022 20:03

They’re entertaining enough, nothing ‘deep’ but sometimes all you want is 50 mins of dimly lit corridors and something distasteful with tentacles Grin

Chikapu · 29/10/2022 21:50

I really liked The Murmuring, Essie Davis is sublime and it was genuinely creepy. Definitely my favourite of the season.

They are a bit dull story wise but nice to watch. Overall disappointing

Rinoachicken · 29/10/2022 22:13

Ive found them disappointing so far a really wanted to love them but just don’t - not holding my attention at all

Eranzer · 29/10/2022 22:20

I think it's ace, watched 6 (I think?) as of tonight. The grave robber one made me feel so uncomfortable and claustrophobic, definitely my favourite so far.

AssumingDirectControl · 29/10/2022 22:27

Not as good as I hoped they’d be. Easy enough to watch though.

SSCCLL · 29/10/2022 22:30

Just finished Alo Glo, will watch the rest over the next few nights. I've liked them so far!

mrwalkensir · 29/10/2022 23:30

Hellhole (also on Netflix) is rather good...

LouisCatorze · 30/10/2022 12:35

I quite liked the first one but have struggled with the others. I recognise that Alo Glo was genius in a way (for me it had something of Stepford Wives about it) but nevertheless I didn't really like it.

sosolongago · 30/10/2022 12:39

I watched 1, 2 and gave up towards the end of 3 as repulsed by it. Too gooey and gory for me. My DH is still watching though The rats one (2) was also horrible to watch.

CherryRipe1 · 30/10/2022 12:57

Agree with alot of your comments. Watched the first one and it had all the promise of being intriguing & thrilling but sadly did not deliver. The ending was very silly indeed & doubt we'll bother watching any more.

Pineappleblueberry · 30/10/2022 22:05

I was really looking forward to this as Guillermo del toro has some good stuff.
I watched the first one yesterday and was loving it until the 'demon', I thought they could've done much better and made it much scarier, it definitely disappointed on that front.
Then today I decided to watch Alo Glo and it was right up my alley, loved it and especially the actress as I recognised her from The big bang theory. The funny thing is I was just going on about retinol and peptides to my best friend and then watched this without knowing what it was about.
I did put on the autopsy one and to be fair it was definitely a slow burn and I almost gave up on it 3 times but my toddler lost the remote so I was forced to stick to it! The ending was quite good surprisingly.
I'll have to watch the rest when I get a chance..its not quite as good as it thought but I do love that it's short stories that I can watch one at a time and not have to follow a long series that I give up on like i have with so much Netflix has put out recently.

SoundMachine · 30/10/2022 22:59

Yes I love that it's short story format, it reminds me of Inside No 9, which I also like. Just enough for my attention span and terror levels. I find some horror films too much, I can't be tense for 2 whole hours!

I watched the Pickman one yesterday, another horrible ending! I don't find the endings disappointing overall, I'm always a bit disturbed by them, which I think is the point of horror stories!

Backtothenineties · 31/10/2022 06:55

How have people managed to watch more than 4? Netflix only releasing 1 a week

LouisCatorze · 31/10/2022 08:39

@Backtothenineties all eight episodes were available to watch on Netflix when I 'clocked' the series last week.

Watched them all now. Only really liked the Alo Glo one (feels a bit Black Mirror) and The Murmuring which was absolutely amazing, great acting.

sosolongago · 01/11/2022 16:15

I much preferred Black Mirror and as I said have given up on this series at Episode 3.
