Anyone else watched this? I really enjoyed it. Louis is a treasure and Stormzy is a really interesting person.

Available on BBC Catch Up.

Are you Stormzy's manager?

MostTacticalNameChange · 28/10/2022 19:12

Haha, I wish! Not sure he needs my help, though.

Louis can do no wrong. He did some great lockdown podcasts...the Miriam Margolyes one was amazing.

I enjoyed it too. I thought Stormzy came across really well in an honest and candid interview.

Ilikewinter · 28/10/2022 19:19

Im actually watching it now! Stormzy is totally different to what I imagined.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 28/10/2022 19:19

It’s great, isn’t it.

Absolutely - I didn't know about his faith and clean living stuff... just at odds with the image. And realising he was a dick in relationships so doing therapy and working on himself stuff; now that's a male role model!

Agreed it's a great interview

Ilikewinter · 28/10/2022 19:31

This was the episode I wasnt too bothered about watching, but im so glad I did. I hope he gets the family he so wants, I bet he would swap it all for a wife and kids, it feels like thats what his ultimate aim is.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 28/10/2022 20:00

He’s doing Judi Dench next week l think.

wateraddict · 28/10/2022 20:07

I really enjoyed it too! I can't wait for the others.

I am a huge fan of both and watched ... and was SO disappointed Sad.

Having read Louis' memoir, I know he is a legit fan of rap and has been all of his life. This interview had literally nothing to do with Stormzy's music and everything to do with his fame.

Also from LT's book - I know that many of his interviews were done without huge amounts of pre-arrangement, presence of PRs, pre-screening of questions etc. It was him and a hand-held camera man and that was what made it real.

But this programme was managed to the absolute max and you could see all sorts of random "staff" wandering around in Stormzy's house in the background. I feel a lot of them would be management.

Early on Louis said "I'm not used to all this ..." and this is what he was referring to.

In the end it was just served up on a plate and really quite bland.

alwayslearning789 · 28/10/2022 20:19

I thought it was really good too.

Not what I was expecting from both Louis and Stormzy.

Enlightening and captivating.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 28/10/2022 20:23

it was a good programme but I was a little fed up of every other word out of Stormzys mouth being a swear word. He’s a talented rapper, wish he could be a bit more imaginative.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 28/10/2022 20:42

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow sounds a bit wrong 🤣

Oooh...err

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 28/10/2022 20:44

😁oops!

EachandEveryone · 28/10/2022 21:50

I really enjoyed it. He seems older than 28.

TheHappyLoser · 28/10/2022 23:42

For some reason I hate LT but I do have a lot of respect for Stormzy. I am from a similar culture, but I think that a lot of people will have been surprised to see that aspect of British culture. I agree it was bland, but I could watch Stormzy sleeping so that didn't bother me Halloween Blush

PimmsOfCourse · 28/10/2022 23:50

It was such a good interview, with mutual respect.
Stormzy who I don't know too much about came across as very self aware, articulate and just a caring man.

Yepy · 07/12/2022 19:43

I saw this chat and decided to watch it today. I know nothing of his music but it left me wanting to listen to his story, his music, and I’m not even a fan of rap at all. Stormzy came across as much older than his years, I hope he doesn’t change because fame and fortune often seems to mess people up.

ADialgaAteMyDog · 07/12/2022 19:50

A good companion piece is the Trevor Nelson programme. It's a mix of chat and songs with Stormzy but the songs and chat from the new album sort of illuminate some of what he discusses with Louis. Plus the new album is great.

Delphigirl · 07/12/2022 19:55

I watched this a few weeks ago and emailed my don at uni to tell him to watch it, and said I thought Stormzy was an intelligent, articulate and thoughtful person, and with 2 minutes our family WhatsApp group chat was renamed “Mum fancies Stormzy” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

i agree - great interview!

Delphigirl · 07/12/2022 19:55

My DS1 not don(?!)

Virginiaplain · 08/12/2022 07:46

He said God would provide him with a partner.
So difficult if you are rich, famous and good looking. How do you meet a nice ordinary girl.
