Anyway, as it says in the thread title. New series starts tonight.

Thanks. I hit something and it went back to the technical bake at the wrong time and I missed the end! I'm glad it was him.

I feel like the last few series they don't actually have recents bakers! The standard used to be amazing back when it was on BBC, plus it is always a rush now to finish. I would rather they have longer for a better quality result.

so glad this is back. Star caker definitely deserved it. Sandro’s bakes look amazing too. Such a mix from incredibly professional offerings to some that look like they’ve been baked by a 6 year old. The two young women look like they’re on skating on thin icing. They’re definitely going to have to smarten their stuff up quickly. I thought one of them would be the one to go tonight but was glad it was Will as he was irritating. Have to confess to enjoying the Star Wars skit 🫣.

I'm surprised Will was eliminated, I thought Maisam seemed out of her depth and Will's Showstopper was a lot better. Paul seemed to think Maisam's was too basic.

He's lost weight, he is very pale and has alopecia. He does not look unwell.

I enjoyed that as I love cake week, but it always get better as they start to separate the wheat from the chaff. Poor wee Maisam seems out of her depth, I was surprised she was not first to go. Maybe she was just super nervous and will settle in. I love Janusz, so talented and jolly!

I get pissed off at all the skill-based completions that make talented people rush to finish. Just give them ample time to do the job well! I don't want to see rushed versions. I want finished versions!

Oh and while I am at it: having chocolate and/or ice cream weeks during a heatwave gets my goat too!

No one else has massively jumped out at me yet, but the first show is always a bit of a scrum and personalities tend to really emerge a bit later IME.
I wish they'd stop the tedious 'jokey bits' at the start. I didn't think any of them looked like they wanted to be there and they're so forced. Paul saying he'd given himself a Hollywood handshake for a good bake was spontaneous and much funnier than any of the scripted stuff.

Just caught up. What a great bunch of folk. Not kidding, but I once knitted a jumper in the same colours and texture as Carol's hair😂

Be interesting to find out - maybe we will tonight? Will see what kind of spin they put on it. As far as I can tell they most closely resemble meringues, As they say in my home country (Scotland:) , " am I right or a meringue"?

Debating whether to bother watching live - it’s just so long. I wonder what the split now is of viewers live v catch up?
