Anyway, as it says in the thread title. New series starts tonight.

I had my first Red Velvet in July. No likey.

However, you may enjoy Bake Off which is a baking competition, and one of the nicest thing on TV.

Are Red Velvet Cakes not quite new inventions?

New to the UK I think maybe only 10 years or so. Didn't hummingbird or one of the fancy cupcake places bring them to popularity here.

Red velvet have been around for decades. I remember eating one 20 years ago.

I've only had a couple and found them disappointing- mainly because they look vaguely chocolatey but aren't.

Why does Rebs keep complaining that her cakes had sunk? They were flat, and that’s what they needed to be - if they were domed she’d only have had to cut the tops off to level them anyway.

Trouble with red velvet is that they always look more spectacular than they taste.

I think of them as being American and newer over here, but might be wrong.

Imagine trying this many cream cheese smothered cakes....
