It's half way through the series but you can get it on demand. It's about a small community in the north of Scotland just before the outbreak of the first world war.
The characters are wonderfully drawn, warts and all. I think it is among the most beautiful books I have ever read, passionate, tolerant, with sudden viciousness and sudden tenderness.
The series was filmed in the seventies and looks faded in places but the script is ace. Mom
