Who was the young man he'd been keeping alive? Did we find out?

Wasn't it the dude he caught his father cheating on his mother with? And he was torturing him.

No, he said he'd killed him.

I thought he said he thought he killed him when he went at him like a beast or something but he hadn’t actually killed him.

I wondered if it was him but he said he was 10 when his father sent him to boarding school so surely the "lover" would have been an old man by then? I don't think we actually found out who that was in the room?

As an aside, I know he was a monster but he was so fit wasn't he?!

I researched this because it was bugging me too. I'd thought the guy at the end was the same guy we met in the beginning.

It couldn't have been the man his father was with because he was only a boy and that man was in his 30s, he would have been older than Hugh.

Turns out it was just another random man. He'd killed all his previous captives.

I think he went for immigrant men of 'similar' ethnicities to the man his father slept with, so the guy at the end just looked like the guy in the beginning.

I enjoyed this to my surprise. I don't really like Hugh Bonneville generally. But love Kelly Mcdonald in everything so was watching for her mostly. And I managed not to Google so was genuinely tense, caught totally by surprise in the middle and very anxious at the end!!

Oh yes, totally agree - Hugh Grant is the same IMO!

Just watched it this evening. So did he definitely kill Toby’s Mum? And is it certain that the man Jay let out wasn’t the first guy in the cellar who Toby saw?
Will Jay go back to prison for what he did to Blake? He left his grafitti so there’s no getting away from it being him, or was he just acting in self defence while bringing a murderer to justice. It was so good. And all the cast were excellent
