Was it second (or third) time lucky for any shows you loved?

The start of House of the Dragon reminded me that I started to watch Game of Thrones twice before I properly watched and loved it.

Both times I gave up because I found it dull (in truth I couldn't tell the difference between all the Stark-ish boys). In the 3rd viewing I resolved to make a note of their names and relationships to be able to follow the story. I went on to love it.

Similar story with Lucifer. I watched the first episode, thought it was cheesy old crap and stopped. I then gave it another go some months later and revelled in how cheesy it was - loved it.

It makes me wonder what other gems I might have tried and failed to appreciate.

What series did you have to give a few 'goes' before it clicked?

Interesting - because that is one I've watched a couple of episodes of then drifted away from. Maybe it deserves another chance

Parks & Recreation. I tried the first 2 episodes and was bored to tears. Then I read on MN that although series 1 was rubbish, it was worth sticking with. They were right.

Schitts Creek was one where I tried twice to watch the first episode and gave up. On the third try (again after reading MN) I loved it and it became one of my all-time favourites.

My kids insisted I try again - they said “put up with episode 1 and then skip straight to Season 2” and they were right.

Another for schitts creek. Really had to power through.

Cannot get into Schitts Creek the daughter practically turns herself inside out with her irritating-ness .

Happy Valley - it took me a while to watch but loved series 1 eventually , tried to get into series 2 after three goes .

Line of Duty was the tail end of series 3 that I first saw , then I watched 2 , then counted into 1 until I watched the rest (to 5) ..then started from 1

I have not even attempted GOT but I like to search up the deaths on YouTube
