I'm watching this at the moment, it's very good

But

Every time they pick up the forceps I'm worries they are going to seriously damage the baby, re separation of bodily parts

I don't want to Google it, and I would just like to know if there's a bit I need to avoid?

(I know this might sound odd, but I would rather know so I can avoid)

I don’t THINK so OP, but it’s so gruesome that I know I’ll regret watching it if I ever have a baby.

I really thought I would like this and asked for the dvd set as a present years ago
Watched the first ten minutes of episode one and it was so gory I couldn't watch any more !

YorkshireTeaCup · 29/08/2022 22:34

I just finished watching this for the first time and had the same concern, OP, but it doesn't happen. Plenty of other horrors though. Glad i watched it AFTER giving birth for the first time.

However...

MINOR SPOILER

There is just one episode where the SHO is trying to deliver the placenta and pulls on it so hard that the cord comes away in his hand. Which i don't think is what you had in mind in your OP, but just in case.

Oh I loved this series!

I don’t remember anything like that, it was a while ago but I don’t remember is being that bad. It was more negligent I think?

I might need to try and watch it again. Although have since had a baby so it might make me squirm!

Unfortunately and very sadly there is a case a few years ago IRL where this happened to a poor baby. I believe it was in Dundee and the doctor was stuck off.

Sooveritallnow · 29/08/2022 23:38

@Invisimamma she wasn't struck off. The GMC cleared her to return to work!!
There was uproar at the time.

Sooveritallnow · 29/08/2022 23:41

In relation to your question OP I watched this when it 1st came out, as had a massive crush on Max Beasley, and I don't remember it being horrific, gory etc.
I have a huge aversion to anything even a little gruesome and I was dissappinted when it finished so im sure you'll be fine.

Thanks all,

Oh hang on, I was talking about where the uterus came out with the placenta, not the cord

I'm still looking away for a lot of it though

Agree with all this. I loved it but...it is sooo graphic.
