We'd love to find either a drama, documentary or comedy series that won't make me scratch my eyes out but would be suitable.

Eg loved David Attenborough stuff, Around the World in 80 Days, Bake Off, Strictly...

Any recommendations?? We've got Sky, Netflix, Prime and Disney Plus so should be spoilt for choice but none of the Featured collections are Family Friendly Series Grin

Faulty towers
Modern family

I will think. Above have adult themes at times but nothing worse than the Simpsons.

FusionChefGeoff · 28/08/2022 20:14

Ooh just looked it up - looks fab and they love Horrible Histories so definitely going to give that a go.

The middle or Malcolm in the middle. Both mine loved them at 7/9 ish

Ratbagcatbag · 28/08/2022 20:16

Definitely ghosts. My DD9 loves it. The right mix of humour and storyline. She can't wait for the next series.

we are also waiting for Tim Burtons Wednesday on Netflix to come out too (although not completely sure on age rating yet).

Blush21 · 28/08/2022 20:17

Malcolm in the middle is a shout, love that at their age.

VivienneDelacroix · 28/08/2022 20:41

Blackish is brilliant.

VivienneDelacroix · 28/08/2022 20:42

Oh, and The Wonder Year's reboot on Disney+ was loved by my 8, 11, and 12 year olds.

Xiaoxiong · 28/08/2022 20:49

As a family (DSs aged 8 and 10) we have really enjoyed Star Trek the next generation - kind of like a family friendly Black Mirror. Some of the early episodes are really naff but it gets much better from the second season on, we've had some great chats afterwards. And the episodes are short!

carefullycourageous · 28/08/2022 20:53

With my younger kids I watched things like Back in Time for School (etc.), TudorMonastery Farm (etc.), My Family & Other Animals and Digging Up Britain.

EarthlyNightshade · 28/08/2022 20:53

We enjoyed Race across the world, which is still on iplayer. Not sure if it would be entertaining for 7 year old, mine were a little older but enjoyed it a lot.
Ghosts is great, but again, not so sure for 7 year old.

Briandouglas · 28/08/2022 20:59

BBC Merlin (an absolute classic) we watched it at that age

claracluck1978 · 28/08/2022 21:01

We've just started Young Sheldon with DT who are almost 9 and they are loving it

SpinningBob · 28/08/2022 21:22

We are watching Breaking Dad (Bradley and Barney Walsh) and it’s very wholesome family fun, and funny

Velvian · 28/08/2022 21:29

We've watched a series called Making Fun on Netflix: engineers build cool stuff invented by kids.

The Dog House and Taskmaster Bleeped on All4 - we all love Taskmaster, it is still a bit rude, even bleeped, but worth it.

ShakespearesSisters · 28/08/2022 21:29

Love Ghosts. We didn't let them watch the Christmas one though as it said about the mum putting presents in the stocking.

Haha I automatically read Breaking Bad and thought WTF, with your primary age kids?!

Neighneigh · 28/08/2022 21:35

Ghosts a thousand times over. And Inside the Factory is good too

Ducksurprise · 28/08/2022 21:37

I thought the same carefully had to re read.

Young Sheldon is a good shout.

Afterfire · 28/08/2022 21:37

If you don’t mind a bit of swearing (?) Friday Night Dinner is really good.. very tame really just the odd “shit on it” type swearing. My dd aged 10 absolutely loves it. He knows he mustn’t repeat the bad words!

And then of course you have Stranger Things - but might be a bit scary.

Bobs Burgers…?

Ds has also really enjoyed Malcom in the Middle and Cobra Kai.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 28/08/2022 21:40

Merlin, Outnumbered, Brooklyn 99 perhaps?

blankittyblank · 28/08/2022 21:40

Another vote for Malcolm in the middle. My ten year old is watching the series again for the third time! and my 7 year old joins him. And, it's genuinely brilliant!

butterfly990 · 28/08/2022 21:44

I love Lemony Snicket's "A series of un
