Anyway its now on BritBox. I am approaching with caution.

Back in the day it was a very powerful piece of TV.

People nowadays think that Ukraine is the war to end all wars (or that is what you would think going by the threads on here) but people forget what it was like in the 50's, 60's, 70's & 80's with the Cold War. Threads showed how it could impact people of the UK if the Cold War became Hot.

It was set in Sheffield wasn't it???????

The film that traumatised a generation.

Watch with extreme caution!
I watched Threads on my own at night a few years ago and couldn't sleep that night.

I watched it when it was on originally but it was years ago so will watch again

Watched it as a child and found it terrifying. Decided to re watch as an adult thinking I must have been exaggerating. Still utterly terrifying

Indeed, I was about 13/14 when I first watched threads absolutely terrifying ,it gave me nightmares for years.

Ooh. Been hearing for years how scary it is. Not sure if I'm brave enough to watch, given that nuclear war is a particular fear of mine.

SizzlerFizzler · 21/08/2022 19:39

I was in FLOODS watching Ethel & Ernest last week.

No way am I tackling Threads.

LaQuern · 21/08/2022 19:42

I bought it on DVD a few years ago.

I'm too scared to watch it again.

Threads is up there with ‘The boy from Space’ and ‘the day of the triffids’ All of my childhood nightmares right there. WTF schools were doing showing the Boy from space is anyone’s guess 😂

Just watched this (on Britbox, if anyone is interested). I was 12 when it came out and was not allowed to watch it (quite rightly).
For 1984, it was graphic and pretty shocking, but by today's standards, not so much. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be, but it's still very bleak.
