Anyone else watch the first episode today? I loved it but I'm probably biased as a huge fan of both the MCU and Shulkie herself.

The show stars Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Mark Ruffalo and Tim Roth. It will run for eight episodes until October 13.

Absolutely loved it!!!! Was so so much better than I was expecting.

I really wished it was all released at once.

APurpleSquirrel · 18/08/2022 23:21

DH & I watched it tonight both loved it - especially the end-credit scene. Twitter has gone mental Grin

Agrudge · 19/08/2022 08:43

I enjoyed it.

Cant see why theres some hate online for it.

As I understand it, IMDB & the like have been review-bombed by a load of infantile twats who don't like female superheroes - yawn.

Worldgonecrazy · 19/08/2022 14:15

I liked it. She said word for word something I had just said to OH about women and our anger! Great that they’re exploring that.

Pemba · 19/08/2022 15:03

I love Tatiana Maslany. She was brilliant in Orphan Black.

But do I need to have watched all the Hulk movies etc to know what is going on? I vaguely know the story of The Incredible Hulk, but I can't /don't try to keep up with the absolute torrent of superhero movies /series that there are nowadays. Might make an exception for this now, but how much backstory do I need to be aware of?

APurpleSquirrel · 19/08/2022 15:25

@Pemba I think you should be fine. Yes, if you know all the other films/tv series & their characters you'll get more out of it; like some of in-jokes & references, but I expect you should be able to watch & enjoy it as a stand-alone series.

Pemba · 19/08/2022 15:38

Thanks @APurpleSquirrel

greyinganddecaying · 19/08/2022 15:54

It was great!

AmbushedByCake · 19/08/2022 16:03

I loved it. Roll on next week. I do feel sad for Bruce, alone with his trauma.

LadyTwinkle · 13/10/2022 09:44

I have very mixed feelings about this show. It started off well and seemed to be all about female impowerment. But each week it's got more and more like 'What if Bridget Jones got super powers?' Jen has got so much going for herself, even before she got super powers. She's young, attractive, clever, a lawyer. But, OMG! She carries on like she's 37, lives with her parents, works part time on the MacDonald's Drive Thru and looks like an orc. I don't get it. But I'll keep watching it.

Agreed. It Started off strong. Then got progressively worse. Last weeks wasnt too bad

LadyTwinkle · 13/10/2022 09:54

Last week had Daredevil though.

Worldgonecrazy · 13/10/2022 13:09

Loved the Daredevil storyline and OMG the cliff hanger! I could have cried for her and for every woman whose been slut shamed or suffered revenge porn.

APurpleSquirrel · 13/10/2022 13:26

I don't see it that way - to me she's portraying a character that whilst it might seem she's got everything going for her (pre-Hulk) society doesn't value her. So her family - obviously lovely, but obsessed with her setting down & getting married/kids; plus her cousin is a scientific genius/superhero.
Work: she's an amazing lawyer, but she's a woman so has to do twice as much for less recognition; the toxic masculinity atmosphere; then when she saves people's lives she's dumped like a hot potato, only to be hired by a firm her want her for her Hulk side rather than valuing her for her skills as a lawyer.
Love life: clearly hasn't been too successful to date, but now has the added complications of her Hulk persona putting some people off, others on & not knowing which.
Superhero: now she too has to deal with all the superhero fallout - does she help or not? No secret identity for her, people trying to hurt/kill get just because of who she is etc as well dealing with the issues around being a female superhero.
So yeah, I get why she isn't jumping for joy in each episode.

AmuckAmuckAmuck · 13/10/2022 14:43

I loved Tatiana in Orphan Black, but I really couldn't get into this at all. Gave up two episodes in.

Agrudge · 14/10/2022 10:37

Wierd but a good ending, cant wait to see what they do with the hulk. Hopefully something pretty epic

APurpleSquirrel · 14/10/2022 11:07

@Agrudge yes weird ending, bold I guess too. I liked that they were essentially mirroring the reviews online from certain parts (misogynistic types) of why is she better than Hulk etc.
and Kevin - loved the 'hat'.
I wonder if she'll appear in Daredevil: Botn Again?

APurpleSquirrel · 14/10/2022 11:07

Born not botn!

Agrudge · 14/10/2022 12:18

It's a shame about the run time of each episode only being around 30min.

Hope she hulk will be used in a film in the near future, and hopefully better CGI.

A few things I disliked about the series

Tim Rothschild voice for the abomination form. It didnt suite it.

Run time . Way too short 45/60min would be better

CGI was pretty terrible in parts

Some of the episodes were a bit meh .

I look forward to seeing the character appearing in the future but I still stand by the fact that falcon and winter soldier has been the best series from disney+ so far

SlayB · 14/10/2022 14:43

I wasn’t fond of the talking to the camera. I preferred Wanda Vision from all the Marvels shows

She-Hulk's been breaking the fourth wall in the comics since the John Byrne run in 1989. It's been a popular side of the character for quite a while

After the finale it seems the general consensus among fans is she's likely to make a Born Again appearance. She'll also likely be in either Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars as an Avenger fighting Kang! Also talk of a World War Hulk movie or possibly even a Captain America 4 cameo (which is also rumoured to have Moon Knight so who knows how that'll work)...

The runtime was 30 mins per episode cause it fits the genre of sitcom better. She-Hulk herself says the show is meant to be a legal comedy in the finale.

I'm glad you're looking forward to seeing the character again though. What did you like about FATWS that's my least favourite of the shows so just interested to know
