I haven't enjoyed anything so much since Gavin and Stacey 🤣

It's on iPlayer, comedy about a lazy early twenties couple living in a bed sit. Absolutely brilliant part of the neighbour played by the actor who was the postman in After Life.

Took me 3 episodes to get into it and now I'm hooked .

It's one of my favourites. Far too close to home (before we had DC) and hilarious. I re watch it quite a bit.

I also regularly so fringe washes!

NegroniNonna · 18/08/2022 05:36

I've watched it twice - love it! There's so much to see that's unsaid and so many little character details.

It's really funny and can occasionally be incredibly moving or sad too!

MamaSharkington · 18/08/2022 06:05

Same guy who wrote "Mum" and the very recent "Marriage". I think his stuff is great too.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 18/08/2022 10:20

I loved Mum and started off hating Marriage but it all came together at the end.

I am also a fringe washer (when I had one)

They are sooooo slow , I spend the whole programme wanting to tidy up and wipe down, even the fridge has filthy fingermarks all over it 🤣

I've just started series 2.

Me and DP rewatch this literally every 3 months 😂 it’s one of my favourite shows of all time.

MaydinEssex · 18/08/2022 11:20

I also love Him and Her and Mum! Two Doors Down is really good too

Lottapianos · 18/08/2022 11:23

I quite enjoyed it, despite the pair of them being such dirty lazy buggers. It's quite a slow burn - you learn a lot about the characters over the whole show, especially her sister and her boyfriend, who both behave like monsters are various points. Dan from upstairs absolutely gave me the heaves though 🤢

Violetparis · 18/08/2022 21:59

I loved this series, the final series is especially brilliant.

OhMerde · 18/08/2022 23:01

Another fan. Love the blossoming romance between the neighbour and the friend.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/08/2022 23:07

I binged the lot!

Absolutely brilliant, no what on earth am I going to watch?!

I'm half way through series two now.
So many characters are a bit similar to those in Mum and marriage ( same writer )
The flat makes me feel uneasy , I just want to clean it up!
Laura and her dad are horrible, racist and nasty
Paul is the same character as he plays in Eastenders. Fight was funny , especially when random friend

the80sweregreat · 20/08/2022 09:04

Posted too soon
Especially when random friend rocked up with a big dog !

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 20/08/2022 13:48

The neighbour plays the same character as the post man in After Life just filthier.

Steve and Becky are very accepting and don't ever say no which is exactly the same as Mum.

I found the sisters character difficult as there are no redeeming qualities whatsoever which is unusual.

Truly brilliant, absolutely loved it.

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 20/08/2022 13:57

No, Laura didn't have any redeeming features at all. Even Paul ( who was total thug) had a few softer moments. You could see why he was like he was , but with Laura you just wanted someone to pull her down a peg
I haven't watched all of it yet though

Baxdream · 20/08/2022 14:00

Oh I loved this!!!

the80sweregreat · 20/08/2022 14:02

I can see that the writer stole a few lines / situations from Gavin and Stacey too. These people are much grittier and rougher , but there is a similarity there too with a few character traits. G and S was out first

the80sweregreat · 20/08/2022 14:05

The fight in series two was clever as you could visualize exactly what was going on outside without seeing any of it !
Very cleverly done.

Have you seen Witless? That's one of my all time favourite series.

Absolutely love Him and Her and Mum, but hated Marriage and can't believe it was written by the same person.

Yes it was, so funny hanging out the window to see what was going on !

I haven't seen Witless,will look it up.

I think SB and AW were woefully miscast in Marriage .

I enjoyed 'Him and Her- The wedding' most of all.

Hotelhelp · 20/08/2022 14:21

Love it

the80sweregreat · 20/08/2022 14:33

The writer is brilliant , but Marriage wasn't quite as good as him and her or Mum , which really was wonderful. Marriage made me think a lot and I didn't hate it, but Mum was a masterclass of writing and acting.
Stefan Golaszewski as a writer has got to be one right up there with Alan Bennett , Alan Bleasdale and Caroline Aherne for observational drama and characters at it's very best.
I binned H and H after one episode a long time ago , but I tried it again this week and stuck with it. Not seen them all yet.

Batceanera · 20/08/2022 15:01

I loved it. Cast was fab, loved to hate Laura, she was brilliant.

I will try to find Witless. Currently watching Frayed with Sarah Kendall which is good too.
