Has anyone watched this this series? I was going to ask if people had favourite patient/client storylines but not sure if it has had many viewers.

I loved this!
Saw it a few years ago and have since given the box set to a friend.
What I enjoyed a lot though, was how the psychiatrist's own life was examined, with all the same difficulties and complexities as his patients.

I absolutely love this. There was so many characters that have stayed with me since but I think the pilot is the one that's affected me most. Which series are you watching?

Howdoesthatmakeyoufeel · 11/08/2022 23:02

I watched it ages ago but didn't watch the last series where he has a new therapist. Watching that now.
I really liked Walter.

I like his sessions best.

I loved this but found the last series the least enjoyable, one of my favourite characters was the girl who broke her arm being 'ran over'. I work in a similar profession with teenagers, however, I found it odd that the therapists worked with both adults and children which would be unusual in the UK

SavingsThreads · 11/08/2022 23:28

Where can you watch this please?

EmergencyHepNeeded · 11/08/2022 23:34

Have you seen the one with Frasier's dad in it? That was incredible.

Jki · 11/08/2022 23:38

I liked the young girl who was a gymnast as well, she was a great actress.

I haven’t watched all of the Frasier’s dad series yet but may do so now.

Forconfessingonly · 11/08/2022 23:38

I really loved the Gabriel Byrne series. Only watched a few of the new therapist one.

IamEarthymama · 11/08/2022 23:44

Gabriel Byrne was amazing in this series, he’s such a good actor.

Like pp we loved it so much that we bought the series on DVD as presents one Christmas.

I like the new therapist but not as much as I loved Gabriel Byrne ☺️

Howdoesthatmakeyoufeel · 12/08/2022 00:51

Frasier's dad is Walter in it (I think) and was very moving. The gymnast in the first series was great too.

I love Gabriel Byrne. I think he was/is on something in the West End recently. He'd be good to see on stage.

The new series wasn't nearly as good I thought. Although I like the new series' attempt to deal with current "issues" albeit somewhat heavily handed at times.

I paid on Amazon Prime. I'm not sure it's available free anywhere.

I loved the original one with subtitles, the woman he falls for was SO sexy in it. It's absolutely fantastic.

I really didn't like the recent one with Brooke as the therapist, found it really dull.

Howdoesthatmakeyoufeel · 12/08/2022 01:11

I can't find BeTipul anywhere to watch

I think I watched the latest series mainly for Brooke's outfits!

AtrociousCircumstance · 12/08/2022 01:13

Yes sadly the new series with Brooke was strangely dull and wooden. It had lost that captivating quality of a person and their story unfolding session by session. And yes heavy handed about issues.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/08/2022 01:14

You tube has some episodes.

Thank you but the subtitles aren't in English. I did play around a while on YouTube trying to find it recently but no luck. Seems really odd these days for something not to be available.

Oh sorry,I didn't check. I saw it on television years ago, can't remember what channel it was.

Southeastdweller · 12/08/2022 08:38

All episodes of the American version are on Sky/Now.

I agree the fourth series with Brooke was heavy handed with 'issues', exemplified with the Laila character. But the performances saved it.

Howdoesthatmakeyoufeel · 12/08/2022 19:36

I'm rewatching Walter's episodes. John Mahoney is so good. I love how different Paul's relationship is with each character. I wonder what those who do the work think of it.

It's quite different but other posters might want to try Ethos on Netflix. Features therapy in a different way. It's less than perfect but a really good watch and beautiful at times.

Gabriel Byrne is at the Edinburgh Festival this month. So excited to see him!

Howdoesthatmakeyoufeel · 13/08/2022 22:21

Lucky you @Kittyshopping . Hope you enjoy.
