Did anyone watch this last night, the family with four kids? I was exhausted just watching it.

smellymelly · 26/11/2004 15:38

It was like a textbook example of how relationship issues can affect the whole family. It was probably heavily edited but what a sad household it was.

I watched about the first 40 minutes or so but there was only so much of that woman's shouting and point-scoring that I could handle. I got a bit sick of hearing her "This will be better than Daddy's one won't it?" comments.

Can anyone tell me what they decided in the end?

can't watch this prog anymore - violence often springs to mind

Eventually she grudgingly praised him for coping really well at home during the swap, he complained that she still hadn't appreciated his efforts prior to the swap, she said she definitely wouldn't be staying at home and asked him if he wanted to and he said yes, so they 'decided' he would in a point scoring kind of a way. Shows that if you don't show your partner any respect your kids won't show each other any respect. They definitely needed a shrink to help them out. I hate this prog, the format seems so unsettling for the children involved, encourages kids to compare mum and dads parenting style, and doesn't give the struggling families any professional input. (off on my high horse...)

I felt sorry for the poor dad, the mum was truly awful. No wonder the kids were so badly behaved, the eldest daughter was just crying out to spend some time with her mum. Of course their diet made them high as kites as well.

She was a dreadful woman. Why did she go ahead and have 4 kids if she felt that way.

saw this last night on BBC3 did she ever say anything nice to her kids? talk about negative parenting..

tortoiseshell · 29/11/2004 14:07

That woman was awful - awful to her kids and especially her husband. He looked so fed up at the end. If she could have said 'darling, I really admire the way you handled your week, I couldn't do it. In this experiment you managed so much better than me.' Don't think there was much love there tbh.
