bloody Jamaican accent he always uses.
Don't care that it is relevant to the story ...makes me want to hit him.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest

I can't stand Lenny Henry either, and I can't quite put my finger on why. Why do I think he is a sad loser? Is it because he's just not funny anymore?

lazarou · 19/01/2008 15:36

I like him, and his accents, and the story, and his clothes, and his wife, and their dog

brimfull · 19/01/2008 15:37

He is so NOt funny.

At all.

brimfull · 19/01/2008 15:44

nope he's been turned off here

could never see why people thought he was funny

I find him extremely irritating to listen to

Oh good, thank god it's not just me. I think Lenny Henry is deeply unfunny. Did he just get lucky?

edam · 19/01/2008 15:49

I think he used to be very funny.

At the start of his career, he wasn't very funny (playing to the black and white minstrels' audience). Then he had a very funny middle period. Think it all went downhill when he did that programme where he was cast as a celebby chef.

brimfull · 19/01/2008 15:51

i can't ever remember him being funny

I liked Chef. Ben Elton used to be funny too. I loved The Man From Auntie

Tinker · 19/01/2008 15:56

lol at him having a window of funniness. It was all of about 5 seconds I reckon

brimfull · 19/01/2008 15:58

he's been living off the back of his 5 minutes of funniness (and his much funnier OH) for yrs now

I cant get over how fat he has got. I didnt have my contact lenses in the other day and actually thought he was wearing an outfit to make him look that way.

scatterbrain · 19/01/2008 18:26

He's been fatter than that ! He looks like he's actually lost a bit of weight now !

Can't believe you are all saying he's not funny ! I mean he's not gut bustingly, belly laugh funny, but surely he amuses you, raises a small titter ?? Surely ??

Tinker · 19/01/2008 22:40

No scatterbrain. Just No.

lazarou · 19/01/2008 22:57

Looks like it's just you and me then scatterbrain

was thinking the other day that he is not as funny as he used to be. All that lot who I used to love don't seem to be quite as good anymore. Jennifer Saunders seems to be able to get a series just because of who she is.

lazarou · 19/01/2008 23:04

I wish rik mayall and adrian edmondson would do another series of Bottom, they will always be my favourite comedians.

lucy5 · 19/01/2008 23:07

I'm with you Lazarou and dd enjoyed it too.

Nemoandthefishes · 19/01/2008 23:13

watched this with all dc this morning and they thought it was fab.

puffling · 19/01/2008 23:33

Lenny Henry, Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders are like the state comedians by appt to her majesty. They get wheeled out for Comic Relief, but are deeply unfunny. 'French and Saunders' is deathly dull and wtf is that sketch set in the white room with Jennifer's head bound up about? I do like The Vicar of Dibley, but that's written by Richard Curtis.

NoBiggy · 19/01/2008 23:38

I thought Saunders reined herself in quite successfully for that series recently - she was a talk show host, forget the name.

puffling · 19/01/2008 23:40

I didn't watch it but heard it was shite.

lazarou · 20/01/2008 10:14

The Life and Times of Vivienne vile wasn't it? I watched a couple of them but I couldn't really get into it.
French and saunders was funny a long time ago but not any more.

beansprout · 21/01/2008 04:39

He seems very nice and all that but his career has far outlived his talent. I'm not a great Rastamouse fan myself either.
