I'm halfway through episode one and...wow. The guy is clearly a dick, but not many of these people come off well.

"Butthole Girl" said she was on a video chat with friends and one of them dared her to put something up her butt, so she did. WTF? I have some odd friends, and we did stupid shit when we were young, but really?

The same for his fans, shitting through car sunroofs, brushing your teeth with a toothbrush you just wiped in shit?! Who does this?

It's horrible that the site was used to post revenge porn, that is NEVER ok, but hell, some of these people are crazy.

Just finished it, some people are just replusive.
Charlotte Laws is amazing, her husband seemed to be playing the part of the slightly baffled English eccentric though 🙄.
I'm really surprised no boyfriend/husband/dad beat the shit out of Hunter.

I loved the step-dad, he was so posh British. The way he wasn't getting involved and then when he did, he went full on lawyer. I bet he's really good to have on your side in a legal battle.

Kirra (the ex) looks painfully thin, especially since the old photos of her. I hope it's normal for her and not as a result of that dickhead. It was sad to see the effect he has had on these women, some of them seem to still be messed up cause of it. I think the one girl who had tried to kill herself seems to actually be the strongest and most healed now.

Finished this last night.

Hunter is obviously a narcissist and a sociopath, completely lacking in empathy. It was his following that really disturbed me though. We know that sociopaths exist, but that so many people elevated him and saw him as a God is really messed up and depressing. He had girls lining up to sleep with him, even knowing he has zero respect for women. Hunter never would have had the power to do what he did without his following, so they're as much to blame as he is.

I was a bit confused by his relationship with Kirra. Was she with him pretty much the whole time? Even knowing he was having sex with other girls? I wondered whether they had an open relationship or if she just turned a blind eye to his cheating. I got the impression there was a lot of wilful ignorance on her part, perhaps in the interest of self preservation?

Charlotte Laws is a badass. I really admire her tenacity and bravery.

Also with Kirra she said his mum phoned her to tell her he had been raided by the FBI and she was in school? How old was she when she was with him? I know sometimes in the US they call further education school still.
Tbh she didn't seem the brightest button so I presumed she turned a blind eye to his shagging around.

I was most disturbed by his followers too, it’s sad they there were so many crazy people that supported his actions. I was suprised there were girls all over him all the time, did they not care what he was doing to women?

I found ‘butthole’ girl a bit odd, she talked like she didn’t want to take the pics and about losing custody of her children but then when the site went down she said she was disappointed. I think maybe she liked the notoriety.

I loved what Anonymous did to Hunter.

Charlotte Laws is a woman you definitely don't want to cross! She was amazing.

So many of the people involved seemed so passive, or at least not much of a fight in them. Hunter no doubt is/was a complete bell-end, but there just seemed to be an underlying element of almost resignation that they couldn't stop him, even from the guy who was his friend. Obvs apart from Charlotte Laws, the step dad, and the amazing guy who got Anonymous involved.

I know what you mean. He may have purposefully surrounded himself with passive people, or he manipulated them so much at the time that there's a sort of detachment as they're recounting what happened.

Like with Kirra, I'm finding it hard not to go into victim blaming territory because a part of just doesn't understand why she didn't try to stop it, how she could seem so oblivious to it, but another part of me understands she was with a very abusive and manipulative man and even if she'd really tried to stop him it would have been futile.

Finished this today. Frighteningly fascinating, and a real reminder that whatever goes online stays there forever.

I think HM was a sociopath really, he was a properly nasty piece and his cult like followers were absolutely deranged too. I got the impression Kirra was permanently stoned, a bit dim and probably abused in her family or other relationships as she seemed to take a very passive approach to his behaviour and his website.

All credit to Charlotte Laws, and the guy (James?) who bought his website and shut it down. And to Anonymous, what absolute legends they were.

It did start a conversation with my 15 year old about online images, and watch where you send them as anyone can do anything with them.
