Conversations with Friends TV Show - Am I missing Something?

Is it just me, or is Frances insufferable? She must be a good actress as I can't stand the character. She is permanently depressed with a face like a slapped arse and has not one modicum of guilt over how she has treated Melissa. she is just awful.

I was so excited about this as I'm a huge fan of JJK but Christ it was awful. Naval gazing, self indulgent shite. And his accent was dreadful.

He's really not coming across as a good actor, and the character is such a drip. Melissa and Bobbi seem to be the only decent characters. Was Frances so awful in the book?

Frances hasn't a modicum of empathy or warmth.
For her new" friend " Melissa, for her father - to leave his house in that state. Or for her mother. Monosyllabic.
Thankfully I don't know anyone like her.
Such a load of tosh.
For me it's emperor's new clothes stuff.

There wasn't one likeable character involved in my opinion. Other than the male friend who Frances works for, who was portrayed as boring and square. I think that's the point though, not to tell a story or have a plot, redeemable characters, growth, a tidy ending etc, but just to describe real life.

Thankfully I don't know anyone as self absorbed as dull Frances in my life. I don't think I have ever loathed a fictional character so much.
