Breeders is back on Sky with Martin Freeman and was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts on it?

Paul, the dad, clearly has major anger problems and Ally, the mum, should never have let the dad speak to the kids the way he does. However I find Luke, the son is soooo fcking annoying and whiny. Anyone else agree?

i love it but find the power the son has disconcerting. Feel so sorry for the DD

DasAlteLeid · 16/07/2022 12:27

Agreed, and I think their doing a good job of showing the two sides of the problem; Paul has anger issues, Luke, while damaged, is still a typical teenager enjoying getting his own way and being stroppier and fussier than the situation warrants.

I’ve watched ahead and am really enjoying how the series is progressing. Patrick Baladi offering his usual (and welcome) comedic distraction, as are Paul’s parents, and Daisy Haggard is always great ☺️ I generally don’t care for Martin Freeman as a person as I think he comes across as fairly miserable in real life, but am aware that could be media spin and I do tend to find he is very good in everything I see him in.

Lovely that they’ve really kept the standard up since S1 too.

DasAlteLeid · 16/07/2022 12:28

*they’re doing a good job, not their 🤦‍♀️

WingBingo · 16/07/2022 21:21

I don’t know why the dad continues to swear and get so angry.

Its clearly harming the family yet he continues to behave that way.

but yes, the son is very annoying.

nzeire · 18/07/2022 07:16

I enjoyed but Martin freeman’s BREATHING is soooooo loud

Yodaisawally · 18/07/2022 07:30

I think this series is really week, shame as I loved the first two.

Yodaisawally · 18/07/2022 07:30

Weak!

embolass · 19/07/2022 07:17

We’ve loved this latest series! Martin Freeman is excellent at showing the absolute frustration that parenting brings. They are all so relatable ( to my family anyway)

CornishTiger · 28/07/2022 22:24

The episode in the car between the parents and the discovery. That was brilliant

Cooroo · 28/07/2022 22:48

Watched about 6 so far and it is a painful watch but utterly compelling. Thank god for his parents for a bit of light relief...or is that about to change?

Can't believe daughter is only 11. Great performances from both kids.

CornishTiger · 28/07/2022 22:49

Won’t spoil it for you!

Nospringchickendipper · 31/07/2022 11:23

It is a bit hard to watch at times the way the Dad screams at the children but agree the son is so annoying.
Just started watching series 3

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 08/08/2022 20:47

I loved this latest season but wish there'd been one more episode to tie things up a bit. All the characters are brilliant, the kids are great actors. For me personally I think Luke is a bit unrealistic. My teen DS was never as mature or articulate as him!! I hope they do season 4...

Nospringchickendipper · 09/08/2022 13:54

I thought I had one more episode to watch then realised the series had ended.
I like Ava but feel she is forgotten about a bit and why was it her responsibility to go around and check on Jim.

Thunderpunt · 09/08/2022 14:09

I find Luke too mature for a 13 year old in S3.... but overall enjoying this series, poor Ava. Love the vicar Susie as well.....can't remember the actress name but think she started as a comedian?

Love Daisy Haggard and just binged Back to Life a couple mod weeks ago.

Patrick Baladi is such a great actor, I'm surprised we don't see him in more stuff. Think I first came across him in Bodies with Max Beesley and have loved him in everything I've seen him in.

NecklessMumster · 09/08/2022 14:15

I keep thinking that if Luke was so traumatised by his dad's anger he'd be more cowed by him and not be able to stand up to him so articulately. And not so convinced by the daughter hating her mum. But I do love it, and the house 😊

Not sure how I missed this first time

right up my street

on s2 e6 I think
