This is about young people going to Turkey to have all their teeth filed down and big white crowns put on instead! Like Katie Price. And then UK dentists won't touch them when they run into trouble cos they don't want sued themselves!

Ooh when's this on?

ChinBristles · 14/07/2022 21:55

It's on iplayer now. Horrifying! Just 22 mins long.

two separate tradesmen who’ve been round recently both had had their teeth done in turkey.
they looked very strange to be honest. The big white shiny teeth didn’t fit in with rest of their face.
I assumed at the time it was veneers though.

They used to do the filing down teeth and putting
crowns on the people on the 10 years younger programme all the time. I was pretty horrified at the time (this was years ago) though their teeth were in really bad nick to start with
imagine doing that to healthy teeth

ChinBristles · 14/07/2022 22:06

I bet I will have that "my teeth are falling out" nightmare tonight!

I'm clearly having a bad day, I'm sat here wondering if Turkeys have teeth Hmm

UndertheEagle · 14/07/2022 22:16

A friend is a medical negligence solicitor. She has a lot of people with botched surgeries/treatments from Turkey. Her advice is to not touch it with a barge pole

JustlookingNotbuying · 14/07/2022 22:21

My friend is currently seriously considering having this done, she has been in contact with the Turkish dentists and sent the photos over via Instagram.
I’ve watched the program tonight and have told her she really needs to see this before making a decision.
Why on earth would anyone have their healthy teeth ground down to stumps only to look like they have a full set of false teeth like my grandads had?
Their bodies and skin will age but they’ll still sport a full set of day-glo, perfect gnashers! People are mad.

Hatsoff5 · 14/07/2022 22:23

I thought they didn't file your natural teeth down anymore?

Rahrahrahrahannoyed · 14/07/2022 22:23

Think about what people look like with these ground down teeth without the veneers on... JAWwS!!!
Pointy and spiky tiny teeth 😅

MarshaMelrose · 14/07/2022 22:29

Mind you if you were going to do it, now's the time. Massive hyper-inflation in Turkey.

Underscore21 · 14/07/2022 22:41

Shouldn't that be Türkiye Teeth?

Turkey teeth sounds grotesque, like Christmas dinner or thanksgiving gone wrong.

UK dentists don't. They use veneers or composite bonding.

But these Turkish dentists are removing 70% of the patient's tooth! It's like something out of a horror film seeing these wee pegs left in someone's mouth.

Yeah, I initially thought "turkey teeth" meant like the poultry!

I thought it was going to be animal rights thing that I was going to end up crying over!

It's just about Rylan Clark-esque choppers.

worriedatthistime · 14/07/2022 23:03

The trouble is uk dentists charge a fortune
My dh wants some veneers due to loosing coupe of teeth in sporting accident and its thousands and thousands here
Out own dentist said look abroad as cheaper but did say avoid turkey

ChinBristles · 14/07/2022 23:16

I think with dentistry, you maybe want "reassuringly expensive"!

Still shouldn't do it.rhey do have to shave some of the teeth down.not to pegs but certainly do get rid of healthy parts if your teeth to make sure the veneers fit proper and create a surface "roughed up" for them to stick to.
So again your still getting rid of vital tooth.you will be shaving closer to nerves exposure and will create more problems in the future or certainly bring them on quicker.
Plus are more prone to infection due to any loss of tooth and then decay.which can occur under the veneers or crown and will rot it from the inside out .and you end up mostly only knowing this when it's time to lose the tooth as it's turned to pulp under there .
If your teeth are ok do NOTtouch them Please!!

PritiPatelsMaker · 15/07/2022 06:36

A colleague has just had this done. He's been to Turkey and coke back with a tan and what looks like a set of false teeth 10 shades too white.

Nat6999 · 15/07/2022 06:58

I've read Poland is best for dental stuff.

PandoraP · 15/07/2022 07:02

Those teeth just look so wrong. Stacey Solomon and her husband springs to mind.

Floella22 · 15/07/2022 07:08

I had a joiner round to fit a door and his teeth looked like pure porcelain.
I told my niece and she immediately said he’ll have Turkey teeth.
Tbh my dm’s dentures look more realistic.
They’re awful.

vjg13 · 15/07/2022 08:17

It's an absolutely horrific process.

Gogster · 15/07/2022 13:42

Does anyone know why these people have crowns instead of veneers?

Are crowns cheaper for the dentist?

Hoppinggreen · 15/07/2022 13:44

My friend is a Dentist and she says increasing people are asking for her help with botched Turkey Teeth (love that name for it). She refuses
