Bodies - is anyone watching this?

I am completely addicted and last night watched it on BBC2 and then watched next week's episode on BBC3. My dh (a hospital dr) thinks its good and he can't usually stand medical dramas. The only other one he has liked was Cardiac Arrest which was written by the same team that have written Bodies. It really is quite bleak in parts but have to say too that the Rob Lake character is a big draw!!!!

ooooh what happened last night? I love it but mum was staying and refused to watch it. It makes me cry though, pretty much constantly.

amynnixmum · 25/11/2004 14:06

I heard that its supposed to be based on some real life experiences of one of the writers whilst he was a doctor.

CountessDracula · 25/11/2004 14:14

Sallie do you really like the RL character? I think he is vile - and he looks like a lizard!

CountessDracula · 25/11/2004 14:15

Oh yes and I love it too! DH who is a medical negligence lawyer says ALL the legal stuff in it is CRAP!

Sallie · 25/11/2004 15:24

Yep, afraid so - getting a bit of a crush on the RL character - oops . I am also a lawyer and agree that the legal stuff is crap. But apparently the medical stuff is very accurate.

Hmmm (she dreams away) - would be more than happy if I encountered RL in the labour ward....or maybe not as its not exactly the most glamorous time of your life, is it??? Ignore me - am getting a crush. However, the programme is fab and so sorry there are only 6 episodes. Hope there will be another series as its the only thing worth watching on TV right now!

Apparantly a lot of the medical stuff is crap too, according to dh who is himself a consultant anaesthetist. I only have to look over in his direction and clock the raised eyebrow, incredulous look to realise that anaesthetists have been shown in a crap light yet again. Our collective med drama fav was Cardiac arrest.... had us in hysterics. Wish they'd repeat it. And yes there was an enormous amount in that, that was lifted from real life experiences. In fact knew of some of the people involved who were supposed to be the basis of some of those characters!!
I'm with you Sallie on the RL/Max Beasley character...mmmmm!

enid · 25/11/2004 17:22

god who cares about the legal/medical stuff being correct when there's Max Beesley in a tight khaki t-shirt [phwoar icon]

enid · 25/11/2004 17:26

the bloke who wrote Bodies also wrote cardiac arrest btw

beansprout · 25/11/2004 17:49

It's odd watching it having just been on a labour ward a month ago. Could have done without the very graphic c-section shot last night, but I finally got why everyone is telling me to rest!

Anyway, stuff that, am with the phwoar thing too! Is anything going to happen with that relationship or is it just an excuse to see him with his kit off?!

CountessDracula · 25/11/2004 17:51

Is it just me who thinks Max Beasley is hideous? He looks like a chimp and has skin like a reptile IMO.

beansprout · 25/11/2004 17:59

Nothing wrong with chimps....

aloha · 25/11/2004 18:03

I also think it's fantastic, watched it on BBC3 ages ago. Bleak and terrifying, but very good. I wonder if there will be another series? I hope so.

motherinferior · 25/11/2004 18:13

I think it's great. Gritty, hard-hitting AND a spot of gratuitous sex.

CountessDracula · 25/11/2004 20:01

Oh nothing against gratuitous sex, would prefer was not with chimp/lizard hybrid tho.

Heathcliffscathy · 25/11/2004 20:03

i love it but am horrified by it...gratuitous sex: not enough on telly (unlike gratuitous violence)

NomDePlume · 25/11/2004 20:06

Soooooooooooooooo, addictive. Roger / Patrick Baladi is a great baddie.

beansprout · 25/11/2004 20:09

CD - is there another type of hybrid you would prefer?

CountessDracula · 25/11/2004 20:11

how about sex god/horse

Mmm, I can see that if sex god/horse is your preference, chimp boy wouldn't exactly do it for you.

CountessDracula · 25/11/2004 21:00

no chimp/lizard...
