but what was the very thin green lady going on about?

"The Japanese live longer because they have so many different textures in their diet" she said at one point. eh? not because they eat lots of fish and veg, and not very much red meat then?. and "chewing helps the body to feel full". a nice idea, but rather strange to all of us soup-eaters.

I like programmes though that make me remember that being healthy is about eating good stuff! There's so much in the media about dieting and denying yourself stuff.

I love food and love to know that I'm actually doing myself good by eating - it's a good argument for having healthy food. No guilt. And a way of keeping the dieting propaganda at bay.

Was the very thin green lady Jane Clark the nutritionist? I loved her hair. It's rare to see anyone on telly with grey hair!

bundle · 17/01/2008 10:41

yes Jane Clarke, she's usually pretty good (evidence wise) but think she may have gone over to the dark side..

Chewing does help the body feel full though, I think. It's only one of the things that helps you feel full though - a big wodge of soup sloshing about does that too!

And unless you eat cheese and lard soup regularly, it's pretty unlikely to make you fat.

MamaVonG · 17/01/2008 10:47

Dammit, thats why I'm so fat

HuwEdwards · 17/01/2008 10:59

Yes Jamie can be an irritating git sometimes, but I thought it was good in that I think there is a significant number of people who really do need to see how the damage is done to their bodies by eating shit.

HonoriaGlossop · 17/01/2008 11:10

I think it was a good programme.
