Is Life on Mars enjoyable if you are too young to remember the 1970s?

I love Life on Mars (and Ashes to Ashes) and rewatch regularly. Are they enjoyable for younger people who didn’t live through the 1970s? or is a lot lost?

I enjoyed Life on Mars and I wasn't born yet in the 70s. Funnily enough I couldn't get on with Ashes to Ashes even though it was more my childhood memories time, I just couldn't take to the main character and gave up after 1 series.

yep. this.
Life on Mars great regardless of when you were born. Ashes to Ashes was a bit like hard work

I loved it. Wasn’t born until late 80s but I think a lot of it still felt familiar.

one of the best tv shows of all time

It’s a great show, it’s not really about the 70s.

I was born in the 70s but I’m not old enough to remember it.

Thanks all. Glad to hear Life on Mars is enjoyable for younger people.

I agree Ashes to Ashes isn’t as good (though I still love it) but the ending is fantastic imho.
