who nees those sort of social media comments @JaneJeffer

JaneJeffer · 04/07/2022 12:00

Twitter seems to always support the wrong people @MrsLargeEmbodied

JaneJeffer · 04/07/2022 12:03

The pollen is really bad here. I don't know if it's because of the weather being so bad and people haven't cut their grass or what. I hate talking antihistamines because they make me dozy even if they say they won't.

Raahh · 04/07/2022 12:30

I'm sad about Cotter - his twitter account was great during lockdown, and he's one of my favourite commentators too,Large- he's really funny, but he knows his stuff.

It seems the Beeb have - since he arrived - been obsessed with Kyrgios. It doesn't seem to matter that he had failed to actually deliver, and in the meantime other players have come to take over. One's who put the work in, and win things. They still bang on about him.

romatheroamer · 04/07/2022 12:37

Another one for Cotter here. Castle quite irritating and Invers v irritating.

Raahh · 04/07/2022 12:37

Jane this year seems to have been particularly bad for hay fever/pollen.Dh takes stuff nearly all year around- he is really badly affected- and this year, he can barely see some days.

I am trying to arrange my afternoon so I don't need to go out when the Rafa match might start. At least Ds is working from home today, so I won't be traipsing to the station any time to pick him up!

Fizzywinegum · 04/07/2022 12:46

The pollen does seem to have been really bad this year - both my DH and DS1 suffer and have really struggled this year

Garin playing a bit better so his magic eye drops must have worked - although he has just gone 2 sets down

I wonder what sort of time Rafa will be on - hope it’s not too late! DS1 is back from a festival today and might need a lift from the train station but it all depends on the tennis (bad Mum!) - maybe he can get an Uber Grin

Saucery · 04/07/2022 12:46

AC has posted on his Instagram that commentating brings out the wrong side of social media sometimes. I’m a bigger fan of him than I am of tennis anyway, but even if I wasn’t, his comments on that game were hilarious (“wrong sort of spider”). He’s always been ambivalent about Twitter etc anyway, so hope he rides about this tantrumy little storm.

Saucery · 04/07/2022 12:46

rides out

Raahh · 04/07/2022 12:53

Fizzy The usually overly optimisitic BBC site is saying 4.45.pm. But since the first match starts at 1.30 (and there is also the Halep match in between) I think that is really pretty unlikely. It is assuming the women's match will be short (and I'm not so sure it will be) or that Kyrgios will win easily- and maybe he won't.
I don't know how they work the timings out, in all honesty Grin.

Raahh · 04/07/2022 12:55

Of course, now the Nakashima match will probably be over in an hour and a half, and Simona will win in 45 minutes. Just to prove me wrong. Grin

JaneJeffer · 04/07/2022 12:57

Kubler v Fritz should be good. Kubler is sneaking up there.

Oh nobody knows Alex except as Katie's boyfriend do they not John. My eyes will be in the back of my head by the time this match ends.

Fizzywinegum · 04/07/2022 13:00

I know Raahh the match timings are always very overoptimistic!

I’m really not sure how the Kyrgios match will go and also think the women’s match could be close

Todd Woodbridge was saying that Kyrgios does well against higher ranked players where he has nothing to lose but not so well against players that he’s expected to beat so will be interesting to see how he does

Your prediction for the De Minaur/Garin match to be a long one could be right Grin

Raahh · 04/07/2022 13:04

Jane I know. Doesn't matter he's been around ages and is a more than decent player in his own right. He is merely 'the boyfriend of a Brit'.
HmmHeaven forbid they split up.

I absolutely think the Kubler/Fritz match will be the Goffin/Tiafoe match of today and it will got largely unnoticed. Taylor probably has the edge- but Kubler has really broken through this week.

JaneJeffer · 04/07/2022 13:04

So fed up of the will he behave nonsense. He's twenty fucking seven.

Raahh · 04/07/2022 13:09

Fizzy I agreed with Todd- I think Nick likes a grudge match and loses interest when the stakes are not so high. It's a lack of respect, in a way. He also plays up to the crowds- and is often put on the courts in AO, for example, where the atmosphere is rowdier and less 'staid'. He prefers that.

Raahh · 04/07/2022 13:09

Jane I know . It's a low bar, isn't it?

AndNorrieDancing · 04/07/2022 13:11

JaneJeffer · 04/07/2022 13:04

So fed up of the will he behave nonsense. He's twenty fucking seven.

I came on to post the same. I can't believe it is seen as a little joke. If a child was behaving like that in the classroom or any other workplace it wouldn't be tolerated.

If he can't behave he shouldn't be allowed to play.

AndNorrieDancing · 04/07/2022 13:13

I'm certainly warming to de minaur, sadly about to leave for work, won't be able to watch again until 5pm so will be glad of your updates.

Fizzywinegum · 04/07/2022 13:15

Oops sorry Raahh - yes Kubler/Fritz could also be a long one as well!

Inverdale is just awful - I think I’ll do some angry ironing when the Kyrgios match is on!

JaneJeffer · 04/07/2022 13:18

It takes a village to raise a child unless that village is Wimbledon Village @AndNorrieDancing Grin

Raahh · 04/07/2022 13:19

Angry ironing Grin
I did a whole stack of that yesterday- whilst waiting for things to start, and complaining to Dh about the night before Grin

JaneJeffer · 04/07/2022 13:19

angry ironing Grin any ironing I do is angry ironing, see also folding

Fizzywinegum · 04/07/2022 13:25

Grin my ironing is angry because I’m the only person who bloody well does it!

Just don’t think I can sit and watch the Kyrgios match - I need some sort of distraction

Raahh · 04/07/2022 13:34

Fizzy I know that feeling!

(and I know Mn is full of people who have not owned an iron since 1982, and pride them selves in never ironing a thing- but I don't get how this works.).
