Has anyone been watching this? I've got the free trial of Paramount Plus and binged this the last couple of days. I really enjoyed it but some of the performances were quite jarring. I absolutely love Viola Davis but not in this, she is usually so natural but she seemed so "mannered" in this, like a bad impersonation. Maybe because the Obamas are so well known and recent I couldn't buy it?
Michelle Pfeiffer on the other hand was brilliant, was totally mesmerised by her. Gillian Anderson I'm still trying to decide if I liked or not!
Curious about what others thought?

Only watched the first episode but like it so far.
Will see how it goes.

I've just started watching episode 1. I agree, there's something about the way Viola holds her mouth when she talks that feels unnatural. Her eyebrows aren't the same in each scene either, which is distracting.

But I'm enjoying it so far.

I've just finished it. I found Michelle's character one dimensional and Viola's lip pursing so distracting, it got worse towards the end. It didnt help that she just played her in a bad mood all the time, she never seemed to relax and have fun. I guess it's hard to portray someone still alive and the events so recent but it felt like she was a caricature. I found it hard to believe that she is like that in real life.

Michelle Pfeiffer was really engaging as Betty.

Definitely worth watching as there was a lot of historical things I'd not been aware of.

Has anyone else seen it?

Currently watching this ad thoroughly enjoying it. Agree there's something odd about the mouth movements of Viola Davis' Michelle. Normally I love viola davis but something about her performance in this isn't gelling for me. The actress playing the younger Michelle is great. Loving Michelle Pfeiffer's Betty Ford. I didn't know a lot about her so it's probably the most interesting storyline for me.
It's a great series though. It's a shame they're not making any more
