His so called mother had actually stolen him from outside a shop when he was a baby. Obviously he didn't know. She admitted it and was arrested.

i did - i love holby. he came in ill with an overbearing mother (may have been a road accident, missed v beginng), turned out she had stolen him as a baby and the toe was a big identifier! hope that helps - am sure someone more eloquent will fill in details...
