I have tried really hard with this series - I used to love it - but it's hopeless. The story is slow and oh-so-complicated. The romance between Hair Dye and Twiglet is unconvincing and a bit yucky. And this business with 'is Sam a baddy now' is all a bit contrived. I think they need to stop now.

@Anonymum40 I agree I used to love it but now I just watch for the sake of it I think 🤷🏼‍♀️

I got completely lost, I disnt really understand the ending at all and the romance is a bit daft

I've only watched a couple of seasons. I quite liked the series. But in a relaxed not too taxing way. I have no idea if dna can be faked in that way.

GrinGrinGrin at Hair Dye & Twiglet!!!

As my daughter said last night as we were slogging through it, 'either there's got to be an explosion or they've all got to start having sex or I'm going to bed'.

Toooooooo complicated. Plus they totally overstep their role as forensic officers!!

I think I’ll always watch silent witness, but I agree, it’s got a bit much! But it’s entertaining and I enjoy the selection of guest stars they get to come in for the police officers - often some excellent acting there, and always fun if it’s someone they’ve had before. The ending to this one was pretty frustrating / confusing, and I’m irrationally annoyed at there being only 6 episodes tho I did know in advance. A new bbc drama starting Monday which will keep me going I hope!

Just caught up with the last series very belatedly. There was much sniggering in our house when the police officer said something to the effect of "Last time I looked, it was the police who do the investigating, not the forensic pathologists". Cue cries of "You're on Silent Witness, wash your mouth out, of course the pathologists do all the investigating".

But, thinking about it later, was it in fact a writer having a subtle dig at the entire premise of the series?

Happygirl79 · 26/01/2023 22:57

I can't understand why the pathologists are doing the job of the police. Surely they are not allowed to interfere with police investigations

I always wonder about the finances. In other police procedurals, some unfortunate senior police officer is worrying to death about the cost of forensic investigations. Clearly the Lyle's charges aren't low, judging by the standard of living of the protagonists whenever we get to see their respective houses or flats. Yet, when they get involved, the cops are apparently perfectly happy to stump up for two or three of their most senior employees to work on the case full time, including lots of non-pathology work like sitting in on interviews, going to talk to witnesses, to say nothing of chasing after suspects and, almost inevitably, putting their own lives in serious danger at least once per series. It must all cost a fortune, yet the cops rarely even seem to mention the sordid topic of money.

We have tried really hard with this season, it is now known as Silent Shitness.🤪🤷‍♀️💁
