What the actual?! It gets more unbelievable every series. Now they expect us to believe that despite never once having even so much as hinted at it in the 18 years she's been in the show prior to that by less than a couple of years she was not only married but suffered a still birth?? Crazy.

I have only stumbled across Silent Witness last week and got "stuck". Find it quite interesting but will certainly catch up on the previous series.

The one thing that annoyed me last night was the fact that Jack's dad has "Brugada Syndrome". If that really was the case, he'd most have had a defibrilator implanted. Usually when you have "an episode" you suffer a cardiac arrest because your heart beat is so arrhythmic.*

How many episodes are there usually in a season?

*My sister has Brugada Syndrome and I am currently awaiting a few more tests to see whether I have it, too.

@LouisCatorze thank you, although not so much well remembered, more that I’ve been watching all the previous series recently 😬 They recycle their actors so much, the farmer’s son in last night’s episode has been in it at least twice before!

I'm confused by the timeline. What age was Jack when his dad took him to England and he last saw his mum? Because it sounds like he was young but then he would have a more English accent, surely? Also, didn't he and his brother have a thing with Cara's mum in Belfast?

I still like it and find it watchable. I don’t really buy Nikki and Jack though. I can see why he would, can’t see why she would. The whole Amanda burton story line is odd and slightly bewildering. I agree with the pp who said the dna isn’t being manipulated, the data base is.

I don't know if I'm just thick sometimes watching this series because it confuses me a bit , is Sam bad , is she doing it under pressure , it's so huge to have Sam back I can't stand that after all these years she may be bad .. and I like seeing her husband as I miss seeing Rick in Holby ... I miss Clarissa ,
I like Nikki with Jack I think he would look after her
Simone being mean to her gran before the party was weird and it was obvious it would be the daughter
Wasn't jacks mother a delight 😬

I've watched all 4 episodes on catch up this week and so disappointed in how it's changed this season. It's all really strange.

Good to see Nikki has finally stopped wearing super high heels on scene and switched to more sensible footwear though 😂

LouisCatorze · 04/06/2022 08:40

I reckon Sam will turn out to be a good guy despite current appearances to the contrary. It would be too much of a volte-face otherwise, surely?

I agree.

But Nikki needs her super high heels so she can at least come up to giant Jack’s chest! 😬

All tied up neatly in the end. 🙄
I felt sorry for Sam's husband.

Gone are the heady yesteryear days of a season with well over ten different two-part stories. The seasons are getting shorter and shorter.

polyhymnia · 10/06/2022 00:25

Can anyone explain to me what happened in the final scene, please?

Tom Faulkner couldn’t just let the guy who was behind it all go to prison, he wanted revenge for being framed so he pretended to be the guy’s solicitor so he could get into his cell and then he killed him. I think.

I was slightly disappointed that it was a shorter series this time but I guess they wanted one big story which couldn’t possibly be stretched out over another 4 episodes. It’s been 10 eps per series for years though, I don’t think it’s been getting shorter before this year.

polyhymnia · 10/06/2022 17:27

Thanks! I thought that must have been Tom coming to take his final revenge on Oscar, but I couldn’t read his final text to Nikki or even who it was from. Must say, I was sure Oscar was a baddie from the moment we were told he was from number 10!

It's put me off watching the next series. That's 6 hours of my life I'll never get back. I have no idea what was going on.

The woman caring for Jack's father, Margaret is Frances Tomelty, ex wife of Sting.

It was a tiny part but Frances Tomelty and Duncan Preston were the best actors by far in this series.
