Has anyone else seen this on Amazon , we’ve been watching it this week and really enjoying it .

No I've been looking for new things to watch, is it a comedy, drama etc ?

FindMeInTheSunshine · 21/05/2022 22:03

I've watched and enjoyed it, and really hope they do a second season. I've read reviews saying it's not as good as Call my Agent, but I haven't seen that so it's not a problem for me.

Coincidentally, I'm just re-watching Death in Paradise as comfort TV, and realised that Zoe from Ten Percent is in that as well for a few episodes!

Floralnomad · 21/05/2022 22:05

It’s a comedy / drama , my daughter told me that the English version has been done by the people who did W1A and it is along the same lines . I hope it gets another series .

Not quite as good as the French original but I'm enjoying it.

Thunderpunt · 21/05/2022 22:13

I started it and found it so similar in many ways to The Thick of It and 2012 (?) but enjoyed it

Thunderpunt · 21/05/2022 22:13

Sorry think I meant W1A and the Olympic one

Fun fact. The little dog is called Mattias after the French original of the Jack Davenport character. The original dog was called Jean Gabin after an old French film star.

midsomermurderess · 22/05/2022 17:19

Jack Davenport’s character and his assistant remind me of Hugh Bonneville’s and Olivia Colman’s characters in 2012, mannerisms, intonations and all. I’ve watched 2 episodes, not feeling too fussed about going back to it. I also find it hard not to compare the English characters with their French counterparts, generally not entirely favourably.

CaptainMyCaptain · 22/05/2022 17:27

Julia who is the Noemie character doesn't seem right to me.

Floralnomad · 22/05/2022 18:28

I’ve not watched the French version so perhaps it’s better coming to this cold .

Yes, Julia seems too prim and uptight.

I'm a married heterosexual woman but I thought Noemie was quite sexy but not Julia.

Downtherefordancing · 22/05/2022 21:27

I’ve watched all of current series and absolutely loved it. Julia’s character gets better and better … and I love Stella and Simon 😊

midsomermurderess · 22/05/2022 21:33

Yes, I felt that there was wild abandon ready to be unleashed from Noemie, as indeed there was, I just don’t buy into Julia having much of that. I’ve watched a couple of more episodes today and I am liking it more though, I think it took a little while to get into its stride.

Floralnomad · 22/05/2022 21:51

Maggie Steed is excellent as she always is .

I've just watched episode 4 (I think) and you are right. Julia is getting better and I am less inclined to compare it to the original.

I'm finding this too. The more I watch the less I'm comparing it to Call my Agent and I'm starting to really enjoy it. I wish the storyline wasn't exactly the same though
