Really excited about this. Its the best British TV show I've seen in decades. I met the actress who plays Sheila a few months ago. Had a brief chat about the show. Seemed like a really nice down to earth lady

Zonder · 22/05/2022 13:43

That's so cool @beethecrackon24995 I love Sheila. And the actress. You probably know but she's Emma Thompson's sister and a better actress imho.

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/05/2022 14:58

She certainly is the better actress imo. Rewatched last night the marvellous scene in S2 where Lance is talking about his daughter and Sheila wistfully indicates that she has lost (or relinquished) a child in the past. Beautifully conveyed and hearbreaking.

Lance, of course, doesn't pick up on it.

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/05/2022 14:59

*heartbreaking

Snoopsnoggysnog · 22/05/2022 16:35

That’s such a wonderful scene @BoreOfWhabylon

I need to rewatch it all

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/05/2022 17:40

I'm at the end of S2 now - so much detail I'd forgotten!

JayAlfredPrufrock · 22/05/2022 19:41

I’m on my 4th viewing. Something new every time.

SocksAndTheCity · 22/05/2022 23:19

This has made my weekend too - thank you for posting! I will rewatch them all 😍

beethecrackon24995 · 23/05/2022 10:20

bore i so agree, that scene is really beautiful in such a sad way as she has obviously lost a baby at some point. I think the series is beautiful, dh & i regularly rewatch it as we never get bored of it. We LOVE farmer bishop!! although all characters are fab'

CousinKrispy · 23/05/2022 10:40

Oh this is great news and I hadn't seen it elsewhere. Must rewatch the series!

CPL593H · 23/05/2022 10:42

Superb news! (Does the gold dance)

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/05/2022 10:59

Agree about the farmer @beethecrackon24995 All the characters are superb though, even the very minor ones. Everything is just beautifully observed.

I finished rewatching all three series over the weekend but will be going back soon. Danebury is my happy place Smile

Zonder · 23/05/2022 14:14

@BoreOfWhabylon that really is the most poignant moment of the whole thing.

Winecheesesleep · 23/05/2022 14:19

Can't believe I missed this news, so pleased! Will st

Winecheesesleep · 23/05/2022 14:20

art another rewatch before it airs.

To the PP who was admiring the photography - completely agree, it's gorgeous.

Sorry for the split post, pressed post by mistake!

Yes! I judge people by whether they are Detectorists fans or not.

lettherebelists · 27/05/2022 06:07

This is one of my favourite shows so I am very happy about this!

beguilingeyes · 27/05/2022 16:59

I saw Mackenzie Crook in Jerusalem recently too (he's so good in it) and got him to sign my dvd and gushed shamelessly about how much I love it.
'Terry' is also in Jerusalem and I spoke to him too. He's totally excited about the news.

beguilingeyes · 27/05/2022 17:08

Couple more Jerusalem connections. Johnny Flynn who sings the theme was in it last time, playing Lee and the girl who plays Sophie in season 1 was Phaedra in the 2011 production.

You are lucky!

I think loads of people would very happy to pay their TV license if it were turned over to Mackenzie Crook to fund shows. He has a rare, rare talent.
