I watched Normal People and absolutely loved the series then read the book too and also loved it.

However, dear Lord, I'm finding CWF so miserable. Are we meant to care for the characters? I don't like Frances at all, what a sulky Nora, I can't see anything about her that would attract Nick and he's just as bad, what a wet lettuce.

Has anyone read the book AND seen the series? Possibly it just wasn't dramatised well.

I think Sally Rooney just likes writing about miserable, tormented people. I preferred Normal People but even those two were miserable and infuriating.

At least the couple in Normal People had a bit about them, these two don't have a thing to say to each other apart from "you ok?"..."yeah, fine" 🙄

They all seem to have too much time on their hands TBF. And the CWF lot are on their phones the whole time.

I didn't like the book. I just wanted to tell the characters to get over themselves. And struggled to relate or like any of them.

The TV show was panned on the r4 culture programme, in a very polite r4 kind of way. But you could tell the reviewers were leaving a lot unsaid. And one if the reviewers said they fell asleep during one of the sex scenes!

I preferred the sex scenes in CWF to the ones in NP. They were shorter and left more to the imagination.

I loved it! Honestly drew me in and I liked how slow going it all was.
