What on earth do I watch?

Right so long story short. I do not watch anything, like ever! I have been partial to a big binge watching session of something every 6 months or so, so I’m not a tv virgin and have seen some things.
I really really want to start watching stuff again regularly, I stopped being interested in tv years ago when my mental health went downhill, I used to be an avid hollyoaks fan but I feel it’s been too long now (3/4 years) to get back to it.

I need recommendations for any shows I can get on demand (netflix, Amazon, nowtv etc.)
ideally something that can be on whilst my kids are up though but not something that is clearly aimed at children/families if you know what I mean.

much appreciated 🙏🏻🙏🏻

How old are your kids? What sort of things are you after?

Law and order Uk or Law and Order - US ones
Turn Up Charlie - stars Idris Alba, comedy
Trying - bittersweet, really good
Anatomy of a Scandel - I’ve not watched but good reviews
smichagoon (sp) - if you like musicals
Brigerton - first one is steamy but second one isn’t
Mallory Towers - childrens series but I loved

Shakespeare and Hathaway - cosy detective series,

Thank you I will look into them.
my kids are 8 and (2 weeks away from being) 7.

im not too strict on things with swearing or violence in it (the avengers films are 12s and they watch them) as they’re mature enough to know that both things are wrong.

Sexual scenes, sexual words, extreme gore and drugs are where I draw the line of what’s appropriate for them.

Probably not the first series of Brigerton then!

anne with an e
line of duty
peaky blinders
brand new cherry flavour
after life (season 1)

The Durrells
Nashville for after DC bedtime. It's suitable for 12+ and I would say that was fair.

Parenthood on Prime is sooo binge-worthy

Jane the virgin. Mostly suitable for kids to be around.
