Do not, CANNOT bring myself to watch Martine McCutcheon - something about her really winds me up. Other than that ok so far - does feel like a watching a farce as opposed to a proper drama tho

Chuffinnora · 10/01/2008 21:44

Looks good so far.

Have spotted Mrs McClusky from Grange Hill, Mike Baldwin Coronation Street.

And was that Chardonay from Footballers Wives?

binkleandflip · 10/01/2008 21:47

Oh yes, Johnny Briggs looks great for his age - better than he ever did as Mike Baldwin, perhaps he's had a bit of work done since expiring on Corrie

Jason Donovan tho - how much less haggered would he look had he not gone drug/drink crazy? He is late 30's but looks lots older I think

ChorusLine · 10/01/2008 21:49

i normally like her - but can't cope with how much she is pronouncing her T's

Carmenere · 10/01/2008 21:49

JD is acting the pants off MMC, she is dreadful.

OP posts:
binkleandflip · 10/01/2008 21:49

I cant work out if she is purposefully pretending to be a bit of a crap actress (and its parts of the plot of MW) or if she just is

binkleandflip · 10/01/2008 21:51

oh God! It is turning into Hollyoaks with waves

unknownrebelbang · 10/01/2008 23:26

Ok, so why did JD leave town in the first place and what happened?

missed a bit, lol.

S1ur · 10/01/2008 23:29

Ah, well now I was mner at time and thought both were a bit rubbish. But dual-tasking meant I didn't really give it its due probably. SOunds like it should've been an interesting idea at least though pr'haps I'll try again.

MrsArchieTheInventor · 10/01/2008 23:45

JD left town because he had an affair with Martine, who I assume was married to Hugo Speer at the time, and Hugo and JD were business partners and it all turned a bit sour (like it would) and i'm guessing she was pregnant with JD's baby and had a miscarriage (from the lines about burying something).

I LOVED IT!! Pure cheese on toast! JD is looking lush and all my pre-pubescent stirrings have come flooding back!

DaisyMoo · 10/01/2008 23:49

I quite like the fact that he looks a bit haggard (I'd say rugged!) I think he's definitely improved with age, or maybe it's just that I've grown up and don't find teenage boys attractive any more!

unknownrebelbang · 10/01/2008 23:51

Thanks MrsA.

Can see its potential.

I think it has potential - liked the fact that you saw stuff lining from behind the scenes to the 'real' programme, like the blowjob girl in the bar, the little girl crying, Martine's pink dress....
And thanks Chuffinnora for putting me out of my misery - it's Mrs McClusky, of course it is!!
Also, the young male writerm floppy hair - what has he been in?

thegrowlygus · 11/01/2008 08:17

Thought he looked great (another one with teenage crush re-igniting!)! Will try to watch tonight.

binkleandflip · 11/01/2008 08:17

He's 39

WaynettaSlob · 11/01/2008 08:18

About JD and Hugo - didn't Johnny Briggs say that a boat that JD and Hugo owned sunk, after JD had worked on it (after a fight they had abotu Martine)? Or am I mad?

Eowyn · 11/01/2008 10:28

oh, don't you think that Martine's son will turn out to be Jasons & he'll be trying to shag Jason's daughter not knowing etc etc just like Sons & Daughters which is prob the last soap I watched...

braveandcrazy · 11/01/2008 19:09

I much preferred the first programme - did anyone else? Thought Ben Miller was very funny as the producer. Echo Beach was a bit too much like Home and Away for me.

Thanks from me too on the Grange Hill head's name - it was driving me mad today!

And never mind Jason - how old is MM and how old is the character she is supposed to be playing? It said the Jason character had been gone 20 years!

pyjamagirl · 11/01/2008 19:18

Who is the woman who plays Ben Millers boss I've seen her in something before and it's driving me mad was it teachers ?

She is in Jack Dee's wife in Lead Balloon.

turquoise · 11/01/2008 19:31

I thought it was appalling in a very enjoyable way - those dubbed scenes on the beach were like something from a 70s south american soap!

What was Grange Hill headmistress going on about JD being a 'killer'? Iwas too busy marvelling at mike Baldwin's terrible cornish accent to take it all in.

Hated the 'comedy' behind the scenes bit, with that bloke doing a Hugh Grant impersonation.

Will definitely be watching again

notalone · 11/01/2008 22:13

Eowyn - think you may be right there

turquoise · 11/01/2008 22:18

OOh yes, definitely!

Have changed my mind, loved the Casualty stuff with the mint imperials and fork in moving Wallpaper tonight.
