Anyone watched this?

I quite enjoyed it. Love Katherine Parkinson and Jim Howick is pretty good too.

Some of the episodes are better than others, but it's quite sweet and there are a few laugh out loud moments. I suppose it's a bit like a cheap and cheerful British equivalent of Modern Family

Anyone watched this?
Cannot stand Alison Steadman so that's a hard 'no' from me.

I watched the one off episode during lockdown, which I enjoyed. I haven't started the series yet.

I like it. It's bonkers , but also funny and quirky.
The way he was trying to hand out school awards whilst sat on a beanbag was hilarious .
The pilot over 1st lockdown was great.

I loved it! So funny. Except for the Italian restaurant which was rude.
Felt about like Outnumbered- with the chaos!

The dad is funny , when he was all excited about one follower as an archery influencer and his son said ' dad, people don't celebrate their followers individually' ! Made me chuckle.

I know it's not real ( of course!) and a bit crazy at times , but I do like the fact that they have made it that the mum , Rachel , gets on well with Sue , her mother in law! I think it makes a change in dramas like these ( even though sue is flawed and can be flaky !!)
They all have their funny ways , but there is a lot of love there too , which is nice.

I started watching this the other night. I like the subtle references to the other show Ghosts that the dad is in, archery being one, and there is another guy with the same name as another character from Ghosts, and of course Katy Wix made an appearance. I've only watched two episodes so far so still getting to grips with names but I'm enjoying it so far 😁

Sue ( Alison steadman) has a Liverpool accent , but her son doesn't !

icelolly99 · 06/05/2022 20:14

@the80sweregreat this isn't unusual; I know a few families whose kids have different accents to their parents.

the80sweregreat · 06/05/2022 20:17

Yes, I do love a Liverpool accent.
I'm not sure how authentic Alison Steadman's one is on this, but I like hearing it!

Aren't some of them the Horrible Histories crew, which Tom Basden was in and wrote for? (He's Robin). I liked it over all, I thought it got funnier as it went on. It warm-hearted, they like one another. It's fun.

the80sweregreat · 06/05/2022 21:24

It's nice that they all get on isn't it?
I love this aspect the most.

Anyone else get bad motion sickness from shaky camerawork on TV like this? I like Katherine Parkinson and Jim Howick, but had to call it a day after ten minutes, I just couldn't focus on what was being said and I felt awful!

I don't mind too much though, it didn't seem like a sitcom that would give me many/any laugh out loud moments (although I know it's too early to judge from the first ten minutes).

howler21 · 20/05/2022 17:51

I liked it generally but thought it got a bit samey and was very cliché. All the classics were there. Wet wipe man with loud bully of a girlfriend, a Friday Night Dinner type neighbiur (the painter), dad’s arch enemy wanting to steal his wife etc.

howler21 · 20/05/2022 17:54

It had some nice moments in though. I liked the touch about the daughter going off to travel as she seemed lost throughout the whole thing.
